It has always amused me that anyone would vote for them when most of the time the Labour Party has been as good as broke.:illogical

1215835 2011-07-10 08:49:00 Yes, me and thousands of others. However not in a positive way. I do agree though, that any govt should not be borrowing such amounts of money to fund things they cannot afford.

When Labour introduced Kiwisaver many people joined because it seemed like a really good scheme, $1 for every $ up to $1042 per year and Labour said they could afford it. Now that National has cut that back to a maximum of $521 per year it affects all KiwiSavers.

At least they didn't cut the amount completely. Not so bad for me as I have only 1 year left to be in the scheme anyway. But it will put some people off joining as it is not quite so attractive for them now.

MPs get $2.50 for every $1 they put into their retirement scheme.

This thread is about how someone's actions affect people downstream, not whether in a good way or a bad way, as I understand it.

A lot of the lack of savings in NZ is Labours fault because Roger Douglas (that failed pig farmer) took off the tax incentive for having Life Assurance etc.
