1215325 2011-07-07 22:22:00 SWMBO also prints off recipes all the time -- all of a sudden the printer starts up, ( wasn't me) I have a quick look :drool - she comes in and grabs it, crash bang -- "oh f**k" from the kitchen --- Dinners ready - But what a disappointment - not what shes printed off. :crying

Bit like expecting Wine and you get water ;)

All sounds so sad, have you considered divorce?

1215326 2011-07-07 23:12:00 Why has nobody mentioned the greatest advantages of an iPad over a paper-based recipe? Paper is virtually useless for straightening up a fridge after an earthquake, it is just too thin, whereas your "just works" iPad can be wedged under an appliance and make a useful contribution to getting back on the level. Every kitchen should ideally have a collection of iStuff as part of the emergency kit.
After a few after shocks and the associated levelling, just imagine the kudos when at an Apple rally you say "I cook for a family on three iPhones".

:D:D:D

Love it!

As much as being behind the curve may grate, the upcoming generation will not share these views. Everyone will have a mobile media device, and they will bring up what they want, when they want, where they want, on demand.

Hell, I just bought my son an mp3 player with touch screen and video playback for $50 :horrified

I can't see text becoming completely redundant so an ability to read and type will be with us for awhile. So people can jot down notes if they so wish.

If it were me I'd use the note taking app on my iphone while watching the vid....

You still need to know how to read.
Whether it's off a piece of paper or a screen.

1215329 2011-07-08 01:03:00 And, in the time the video recipe plays - say 3 minutes, I can read at least 20 written recipes.
As I said, you want to watch a technique fine, I wanted to find a recipe. I don't want to waste half the afternoon sitting through a bunch of videos waiting for them to get to the list of ingredients when I can read it a thousand times faster.

But then I've always been able to read fast, suppose if you read slowly and with difficulty you'd find it hard.
