1216366 2011-07-13 01:57:00 Not sure why Sainsbury took the softly softly approach but it has been noticeable over time that the Close Up programme regularly promotes psychic mumbo jumbo and other paranormal nonsense.

Ring himself trys to promote his beliefs as somehow scientific, whilst continually converting his past failures into successes and making his predictions in such a way that he can almost never be wrong. Weather is a good one to fudge, but he made a clear prediction I saw that we wouldn't have snow in July, got that rather spectacularly wrong but he still claims he can predict the weather.

He does appear to be learning though, now says he predicts trends which of course means he can make a success after the fact of anything at all.

It's clearly subjective validation, the phenomenon is well understood in psychology and it can be experimentally demonstrated that people like Ring have a predisposition to link unrelated events. Unfortuantely this predisposition will provide them with endless proof they are right, even though as we have seen with Ken Ring he has demonstrated no ability to predict anything specific in advance.

Go along with the "trend" method, although we used MAT (moving annual total) in accounting and graphed that for future profits, use rain fall for mooney, don't know about using it for quakes tho.

Watched Oprah and Shirley MacClaine this afternoon and Shirley is one of those 21 12 2012 in alignment forecasters toooo.

I don't know why you're such a strong supporter of pseudo-science. Must lack the ability to think critically.
