1243906 2011-11-17 02:13:00 Couldn't believe my eyes when I looked at HDD prices the other day. Wow. The blame lies with the Thai floods, apparently.

Luckily found a 1TB ext for $89 for a friend. Cheaper to get these and remove the drive instead of paying around $220 for a bare drive.

1243908 2011-11-17 02:32:00 Dont expect the prices to come down soon either. It looks as if most of the major manufacturers have serious production issues and they will give preferential supply to their OEM partners because they probably have supply agreements in place. MrRSoul (16583)
1243909 2011-11-18 02:23:00 Would this affect SSD production or just mechanical drives? Netsukeninja (13296)
1243910 2011-11-18 04:06:00 It will affect all parts made primarily in Thailand. pctek (84)
