| 1243667 | 2011-11-15 00:28:00 | Hey Everyone, I've been looking at building another gaming PC for a while now, and was quite set on building a new one, until my friend offered to sell me the following for $950. Do you guys think this is worth the money? Or would you build a new PC for a $1000. Please, if you can, suggest a better list of components. | 1243668 | 2011-11-15 01:56:00 | There isn't even a graphics card in the list you linked. To be honest, $1k is a bit on the low side for a gaming PC. What are you actually expecting out of it? I'd go for an i5-2500K and Asus 560 Ti ($390), personally. |

| 1243669 | 2011-11-15 01:59:00 | Depends on what your budget is. The best not over the top build would have an i5 2500k and a GTX 560 TI. That would get you into good high level graphics in all games at the moment. Then when the next GPU come out you can grab another GTX 560 TI cheaper. That would keep your computer running well for years to come. On the build that your friend offered you, the AMD processors, however cheap they are, they just don't perform as well as Intel. Some may disagree but majority of games are optimized for Intel not AMD these days. That hex-core isn't going to be fully untilised in many, if any, gaming situations. Running at only 2.8Ghz it doesn't compare against some cheaper quad-core AMD processors. Take Skyrim for example, an i5 2500k runs up to 20 frames better than the AMD alternatives in one of the benchmarks I looked at. Now that's not to say AMD processors are useless, I have one myself and I have no issue with it, but if you have the money i5 2500k would be the way to go. Conslusion: If you have money get an i5 2500k and GTX 560 Ti and 4GB ram. |

As far as I'm concerned a 6770 is better and I can buy one for around $120-150NZ. Spend more on graphics less on cpu. Wouldn't 2x4gb be a better choice? If you're buying a computer like this wouldn't you be better off with a $80 case and spend the extra $80 on better parts instead of having a fancy case and mediocre parts? |

Talking to one of my suppliers today, as he mentioned, hard Drive Supply isn't expected to back to normal till at least March next year, and pricing - being lower more than likely wont be for another 4-6 months after that. Some places are making a killing when they brought HDD's before the price went up, and can (and are) selling at over 100% price increase. |
