1217517	2011-07-18 09:45:00	Got to get my restricted some time soon. Should have got it ages ago but left off getting my learners for too long. Could have been planning for my full by now. Any tips/tricks to getting this thing? Also, what should I expect them to ask and get me to do? I have heard that you should check your mirrors VERY obviously... and avoid pedestrians :D Anything else to note? Most likely getting it done at Porirua or wellington if Porirua is all booked out. Cheers! PS, getting it in a manual. No filthy auto for me, I personally dont like them as much. My girlfriend is getting hers done in an auto :xmouth: cant talk her out of it! 1217520	2011-07-18 10:17:00	Its porirua, I'm fine driving there. I have to get my car fixed though, the right indicator keeps tripping... rather awkward. Its getting impossible to turn off. And I have to get a medical cert :/ preferably before I go into hospital on wends for impacted molars and get my gums cut out :( Not a fun week	The Error Guy (14052)
1217521	2011-07-18 10:21:00	Restricted is easy. Mine was about 10 minutes and I didn't even have to parallel park. It's essentially just around the block, pull over, on an open road, and then head back. Stupid things like looking down side streets to check for cars was something I remember being told. Check mirrors, including the left side mirror (I have a bad habit of never looking at this one, except for parking, cyclists, merging, changing lanes etc, though from memory they want you to check all of them like every 10 seconds on something stupid like that) Then when you go for your full, it's essentially the same, except longer and you have parts where you just have to state the obvious ("braking coming up to a stop sign, checked left nothing, looking right nothing coming" etc) Also make sure your car is up to standard. Otherwise they can refuse you on the spot (and IIRC you don't get your money back apparently). And they can refuse you on really minor things I've heard.	--Wolf-- (128)

Chances are, if he can't talk her into getting it done in a manual then she either probably can't drive one, or has no interest in driving one, therefore never will. Either way, when she goes for her full, she can do it in a auto and then after that she'll be allowed to drive both auto and manual.	--Wolf-- (128)
