1217031 2011-07-19 07:53:00 Isn't there a possibility - a strong one at that - that pctek may be the author of her own misfortunes? I know of no one who can claim to such a list of grievances as she. I had a problem with ASB Bank once. Yes, the local branch denied all responsibility. I didn't accept that so I escalated the matter until I found someone who gave a ***t. That person was Ralph Norris. My complaint was upheld and rectified immediately with appropriate compensation.

The main thing was, I was sure of my grounds before going so far.

Yesterday I went to the ATM in the mall and deposited a certain number of $100 notes. Counted 3 times.

I'd say that she's sure of her grounds too.

1217034 2011-07-20 02:41:00 met with a Manager today and viewed footage.
In the lunch room while other staff ate lunch.

It's frames, not a video. Shows a blurry countertop with a PC and various stationary items on it.
She reaches under the counter and (out of sight) and brings up 1 bag which she cuts open along the side. You can't read anything on it, you can't even see it properly.
You can't tell the notes either except 50s have 1 zero and 100s have 2. So 2 notes had 1 zero. It's like those videos you see on the cops shows, not terribly in focus or clear.

Then it stops.

So, what does it prove? After I asked to not finish the discussion in the lunchroom we moved to another room and discussed the entire thing from ATM to countertop.
He did not explain each stage. He also said the bank is built on trust.
Anyway I said he can't prove it really, but then neither can I.

Discussions about future deposits were had and then he passes this to the branch manager.
Whenever that happens.

We've resigned ourselves to losing $100 but still, I want them to note it officially. Which I guess they will do.

1217036 2011-07-20 03:13:00 Does that mean that there was only 1 deposit bag or that the bank has chosen to show you only the segment that shows a bag that they say matches your deposit slip? PaulD (232)

It shows one bag at a time pulled out from under a counter and count it. You can't see whats written on it nor it's bag number, it's too fuzzy.

Doesn't matter, it's going to be one of those things that can't be resolved in black or white.

1217038 2011-07-20 05:21:00 What's the point in having a video/photographic record if you can't clearly see what's going on?

If the staff doing the opening and counting of the deposits know about the quality of the footage, I'm surprised we don't hear more stories like this .

If the bank representative made noises about the bank being built on trust, then perhaps he should also refer to the golden rule of customer service (that his Bank is so proud of): the customer is always right (especially if the Bank can't prove otherwise) .

I would never put cash INTO an ATM for fear of exactly this scenario .

I much prefer to take money out of an ATM . :D

1217039 2011-07-20 06:05:00 pctech, you have to take this further, as there is something definitely screwy going on.

If someone is doing a fiddle it needs to be nipped in the bud otherwise it will sure happen again.

FairGo or Target would surely be interested in this.

Good luck,

Lurking.

1217040 2011-07-20 06:11:00 They should have a close up camera near or on top of the counter that shows only the bag details and money since this footage is important. SKT174 (1319)
