Well there is meant to be security Video footage of the counting, SO it will be interesting to see what is actually shown. Theres only two outcomes really: If the footage shows a person opening the correct envelope, and its obvious that the amount Pctek says was deposited actually was, then ASB screwed up. But the opposite also applies, if it clearly shows 2 x $50, then they have the wrong envelope to the wrong account. If thats the case, while I don't know how good the hand writing is, there may have been a number written down quickly and mistaken , its very easy to make a 6 look like 8 or a 1 like a 7 for example if in a hurry. Still think waiting in line is better - that way if the teller miscounts it can be sorted on the spot. I've actually had the reverse, I put the wrong amount for a cheque on the deposit slip, the teller didn't notice it at first, it wasn't till the following day the additional $20 showed up as a mis written deposit. |

Yes - they give it to me or they don't. But there are a bunch of things that can have happened. I counted and put the notes in the bag with my eyes shut not noticing what it consisted of. Something happened at the emptying of the ATM. Something happened at the transportation of the ATM contents. Something happened at the other end. Very hard to prove if it's in the middle. Have to wait and see anyway, it's still "being investigated". We have had various errors with banking over the years - including wrong amounts being noted at the counter. No, they don't do it immediately - they wait till end of day when they do their counts. I've had fees for things that I didn't use. I've had the bank wipe an entire days transactions too - wiping out all my supplier payments, lucky I emailed them screenshots - cause you try telling the bank that sort of thing. Banks are never wrong, like IRD are never wrong. :groan: |

| 1217016 | 2011-07-18 09:47:00 | Some people don't pay attention to their bills or whatever. I've had loads of mistakes: Gilrose Finance: Deposited $8000 into my account not the other shops. Rang them and they asked me to refund them. Deposited $3200, this time I waited to see how long it would take them - 3 weeks. Although why the other shop hadn't asked them about it sooner makes me wonder. Husbands suppliers: Invoice went to some guy in Wanganui, we had to tell them we hadn't been charged. Invoice went to unknown, again I had to tell them. Vodafone: Disconnected cellphone for non-payment of bill. no internet or landline at the time (due to their stuffup). Had to pay immediately via Credit card or prove via internet it had been paid. No internet so I paid it. Refunded later back to my credit card. Sent the final landline bill with numerous calls from old disconnected landline to husbands cellphone. These calls apparently made while cellphone was in use - one of them to query why they had disconnected mine. After that they cancelled it, but not before an argument and me ringing other cellphone co to prove out cellphone was in use. Numerous txts on my cellphone bill to cellphone in Ireland. Admitted there mistake and credited. Power: Charged at 3phase power rates in shop. Rang power co, they said to ring line co. Line co said to ring power co. After 2 months of back and forth had to ring Power Disputes. Changed to normal power. Credited over charges. Changed power cos, repeat of being charged for 3 phase, same situation, eventually line co rang power co without the need for disputes. Shop above and Bill English electorate next door all off same line - because building was originally one shop - there were separate meters though. Checked with them and they also were paying 3 phase power bills and had been for some years and never noticed. IRD: Paid provisional over counter (when they had them), they stamped tax bill but not signed, they denied we had paid, charged penalty, had to get local MP (minister of IRD at the time) to sort it out. Paid provisional online, said we had not, charged penalty, had to pay bank to trace our payment into IRDs account. Farmers: Paid cash over counter (way back before eftpos existed) for large quantity of items, saleswoman insisted I had paid and would not accept money. Numerous other customers told her she had not taken my money. Insisted she had. Next day, she was real pleased to see me back. Insurance: Moving house, notify them of new address and date of move. 2 months later still being billed for contents at old address but vehicle and house at new address. Eventually sorted and difference in premiums fixed. Rates: Initial payment to bring bill up to date. Set up monthly payments using ref given by council. At end of 3 month period received bill not showing monthly payments already made. |
