I'm confussed as to why people are talking about counter-suing apple for patent infringements when thats no better than apple suing HTC. e.g. How would you like it if you designed something and someone else copied you. So you decide to sue them over it but everyone starts hating on you because of it. Yeah Apple's doing it for the market domination and the money but isn't that one of the main goals for most business?

I hope Apple wins in court, I hate andriod for the same reason I hate forza. No matter how good it is it's just piggy backing another idea (gt) stealing the market for it and then consumers are left to buy it because the original was kept exclusive (not that Apple was ever goning to do different but idc). Even though you could argue that andriod is different (blah blah blah) it was only created because Apple basically fueled the touchscreen smartphone market. If Apple didn't make the iPhone i serverly doubt that Andriod would exsist. Apple created this market they can do whatever the f**k with it that they want.

hang on,

i've played Gran Turismo 1 and 2; and Forza 1,2,3.

Forza has it all over GT, a far far superior racing sim/game than GT.

how is it piggy backing GT?, it's taken the racing sim genre and created a product that has been highly successful.

at least it doesnt take them 5 or 6 year to release a game, unlike GT5 which to me appeared to not live up to the hype

1217578 2011-07-19 00:25:00 Microsoft is getting $5 per Android handset sold by HTC following a patent settlement over intellectual property infringement in April 2010 relating to Android. And continuing lawsuits by Microsoft against other handset makers are reportedly seeking between $7.50 and $12.50 per device sold using Android as well.
They are after $15 from Samsung.
I was reading an article last night where developers are pulling out of the USA market for iPhone apps and Android apps because of the stupid patent system there. If the stupid buggers put as much effort into innovation etc. and less into their lawyers they would be better off.

1217579 2011-07-19 00:27:00 Microsoft are scum just like Apple.

Its a shame these companies can't just let success depend on the quality and value of their products, instead they have to screw over the entire industry and screw over the consumers, who after all foot the entire bill for the billions spent on legal action.

A hex on them all, And someone rouse Steve twatface from his sickbed and give him a punch in the swede.
:thumbs::thumbs:
It's both Steve's that need their swede rearranged.

I hope Apple lose in court, get counter sued, then mugged by a bunch of ex convicts, buggered by blackadder, then left on an island far far far far away with nothing but a pc.
Under your logic, there should be only one tv, one computer, one band, one phone.... you get the idea because everyone else piggy backed?
Kinda makes one boring world. **** Apple.

Android (as a mobile OS) development began nearly 2 years before iPhone development. The iPhone took the Blackberry idea further. And while Apple released the first PDA (Newton), Nokia released the first device with full phone/PDA functionality, with their Communicator.

1217582 2011-07-19 04:34:00 @gamejunky im seeing quite a large gap between the release of gt2 and forza 3. I don't see how you can compare. They are based off the same idea the only thing that i see forza having done differently (majorly) is the calander race order thingy which looks like its been ripped straight out of the original juiced game.

@ Whoever said the thing about me only wanting 1 brand for everything is an idiot. Seriously when it comes to computers, devices alike and there software there is room for variation. However Andriod is starting to look far to ios imo. Whereas other devices there isnt so much room for variation e.g. tv's (with the exception of the different 3d technologies that are being developed now).

then left on an island far far far far away with nothing but a pc.
why would i put my pc's specs in my sig instead of my mac then?

@ Melta, a car is an idea. If every car just looked like a ford with a new badge strapped to the front, ford would have grounds to sue whoever did this. However cars aren't like that. Your example is like saying nokia (or whoever made the first cellphone idk who that was) can sue anyone else who ever makes a phone, which is utter bs. SORRY IF THAT WASN'T CLEAR ENOUGH FOR YOU. Happy?

@ bozo: until you know about things stop/don't jump to conclusions. That is just a coincidence.

thank you for actually making a valid point. I stand corrected. I believe that the way ios and andriod have developed have effected each other tho.

1217583 2011-07-19 05:18:00 We are lucky that someone didn't patent steering wheels and foot pedals or every car would be different. While we use fingers to operate phones there will be a restricted range of ways to do that. PaulD (232)

About that jumping to conclusions ;)

It was (as is this) just a remark, make of it what you want.

1217585 2011-07-19 05:29:00 Windows Mobile was around long before they were, most phones shipped with Windows Mobile. HTC were big on Windows Mobile back in those days, I know, I owned several of their's such as the JasJam, K-Jam etc

Touchscreen phones weren't "fueled" by the iPhone and Apple, far from it. In fact, Apple were relatively late to the game. Technology was still evolving, people didn't see a "need" for the devices, email wasn't so prevalent. I remember it would cost me $8 for 1MB on my first "plan", or I think I could get 3MB of mobile data for $15. This was only about 8-9 years ago. We didn't have 3G, it was GPRS, and it topped out around 12KB/sec (but you never really got that).

Anyway, the article was written based around a blog post by Florian Mueller. I steer clear of him, and anything that references him. He's very one-sided and quite regularly misses the mark. He's good at scare-tactics, a real shock-jockey kind of person, but little more.

It's not going to stop anything. Lawyers will always sue. They're all suing each other. This was last year, it's doubled since then:

1217586 2011-07-19 05:42:00 Kodak seen to be real happy with the way the world is going XD. Did they ever make phones or are the patents just generalized?

If elan gets apple then they should probably go after every other mobile maker in the business.
