Does the slow down occur when running relatively non-demanding apps or only when running high demand games? You haven't mentioned what msconfig/startup shows. Get the machine down to basics and see what happens. |

| 1243153 | 2011-11-12 20:38:00 | It seems like memory usage some times spikes to 100% randomly but I cant for the life of me figure out what is making this happen. When the slow down happens it takes about 5 seconds for anything to respond I agree with what Linw posted, 2Gb of RAM on W7 will run, not top performance, but it runs OK. If its spiking then there is one or two items causing it. Adding more RAM wont actually fix what the problem is, at best it will mask it. You say "seems like" are you sure its the memory and not the CPU usage ? Have you actually opened the task manager and had a look at whats using it ?? If you press Ctrl + Shift + Esc or right click the task bar/ Open task manager, have a look down the bottom of the window and see whats maxing out. Under the process tab look to see what process is sucking everything. |

| 1243154 | 2011-11-13 20:57:00 | Run msconfig/Startup and untick pretty much everything there except security progs. I would hazard that you will be able to stop around 8-10 unnecessary startups. You can always re-tick ones that need to run if you get too brutal. do that 2nd ^^^^^ ,but definitly do it. my guess is disabling startups will make a big difference 1st, start decrapulating the thing. Start uninstalling Run Malwarebytes on it disable all these C:\Program Files (x86)\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTLite.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Razer\Anansi\RazerAnansiSysTray.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Razer\Imperator\RazerImperatorTray.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\LogMeIn Hamachi\hamachi-2-ui.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe C:\Users\CoolMaster\Downloads\tdsskiller\TDSSKille r.exe a typo ?? Daemon tools: has he been downloading/using pirated software (be honest) , running P2P, kegens etc |

| 1243155 | 2011-11-14 00:54:00 | Hi wainuitech, I opened task manager and the processor was rocking along at 3% while the RAM was pegged at 100%, when to processes (all users) and had a look, firefox and steam were both using 130MB of memory each and they were the highest memory processes running . I also had a look in perfmon but it said pretty much the same thing . A thought that just crossed my mind is that he might be running some sort of beta java, as it was 'recommended' by his friend to make minecraft run smoother . Deamon tools is on there to run an ISO of Oblivion that I made from my oblivion disk when I noticed that the spindle hole looked like it was suffering from hairline cracks . Most of his games are from steam (TF2, Skyrim, HL2 etc . ) I am also not sure why TDDSKill r . exe has a space there, probably I brushed the keyboard after I pasted it in . Thanks . |
