You're a chemist, those chemicals can be bad right?

With allergy skin. The soap substitutes you get at the supermarket or the pharmacy are v expensive. Think $25. So I get 3 huge tubs 500g so is not a liquid but like a butter texture via prescription. Sure you can get it without one but it is heaps cheaper that way.

1217246 2011-07-16 12:32:00 All I use is shaving cream, soap and toothpaste. No underarm **** or body deoderants. The toothpaste I use is Sensodyne cause if I don't use it I get sensitive teeth.
:)

Trev why don't you use underarm by the way ? If you work from home and don't have much social contact I can understand. But in summer time..oh dear.

1217247 2011-07-16 16:34:00 I dont know about you guys but i find it impossible to sweat in NZ summer where the temperature is 22-25 degrees max...unless im doing physical sports or something directly under the sun.

Any kind of brands(particularly NZ specific ones) that you guys can recommend? I have to get another bottle of body wash for sure. Someone told me that a milk based one will be great for the skin...how true is that?

I find a good perfumed soap with the morning shower dose the job just as good.

How do you figure out what is "good" or "bad"?
Things like facial wash are a bit unclear though, what with so many different models and types. Moisturers, toners, exfoliaters...

What??!! You don't believe ads do you?
I buy a particular rose soap from overseas (cheap) because I like rose scent. Husband uses whatever clearance soap I buy (cheap).

Shampoo and conditioner - all shampoo is the same so buy whatever you like.
Conditioner varies - I buy what's been proven to work.

Facial washes? Moisturisers, whatever. It's all bollocks. We buy none of it.
No shaving stuff as husband hates shaving.

Toothpaste - I buy the one with the flavour I like. Happens to be cheap too.

1217250 2011-07-16 21:47:00 Question, we all have a different sense of smell.

Most of the lanolin products in New Zealand comes from sheep wool. It makes a beautiful softener for the skin, but a lot of the products have gone through a process of having various additives, so that users don't go around smelling like they are straight from the shearing shed. I avoid perfumed products because they often cause sinusitis, but I do like a good clean smell,

Dove, Nivea and Lux products are reasonably priced and do a good job. Save the expensive name brands for when you might be trying to impress someone.
Avon also sell body products for men and they often have good specials.

I don't want to be sitting next to Trev in a crowded situation, either.

1217251 2011-07-16 21:52:00 I'm actually allergic to underarm sprays, also sunscreen lotion and one for Renmoo Augmentin.

1217252 2011-07-16 22:33:00 I used to use the shampoo from the salon. They do feel better than supermarket's :p And if you get cheaper shampoo from wholesalers and compare to supermarket like Palmolive or Pantene , supermarkets are better. Expensive however. Ie., Loreal Professtional etc etc..

For the scent I just have decent ones, wearing suits at work, cheap ones do smell cheap. But the soap and shampoo nah ... however hair gel stuff ... some of the cheap stuff are not that strong esp if you have coarse hair. Thou caucasian hair is finer and needs less strong hair holding products. One of my hairdressers say that maybe that is why in some ways Asian models are desired for modelling cos the hair is so much easier to style and it looks straight.
