1216928 2011-07-15 05:21:00 He's doing what the govt here is doing. Trying to deal with a screwed up economy in whatever way he can.
He came into a screwed up government, and because he's trying to fix it, people are hating him for it.
.

Nah, not the individual govts either.
It's the whole system.

Buy lots of cheaply made things from overseas, import other stuff, sell bugger all back to other countries.

It's not sustainable. If you aren't making sellable stuff, the people have no jobs and no money. Spirally downwards..............it's all over. China will fail too because all the rest of the world won't have any citizens left to buy their cheaply made stuff.

Then we'll all explode into a thousand pieces.....

1216929 2011-07-15 06:17:00 The system of things is broken and with gold today hitting an all time high at $1583.42 USD, this doesn't bode well for people holding paper or promissory notes.

SJ, the late Herbert Armstrong advocated buying gold !, but one wonders how you would use it as a bargaining source, something smaller than an ounce at least.

We also know what happened to gold fillings, don't we !.

40 years back I put money into finance companies and these all fell through, leaving us out of pocket, gold at that time was about NZ250.00/$US150.00,
a no brainer.

Both Herbert W . and Garner Ted Armstrong are currently dead and their financial lack of foresight caused them a lot of grief but not only to themselves, but the followers of their church .

Garner Ted was a playboy and squandered his father's (Herbert W's . ) money covering up lawsuits and rapes and adultery, not to mention his love of gambling off shore from the US .

The Ambassador College in Pasadena, California was a beautiful campus, but the tuition got higher and higher as the funds dwindled down paying for the son's adulterous and incestuous, lavish globe-hopping playboy lifestyle and the college eventually imploded with it's own serious overhead and expenses .

The college was supposed to be a stand-alone and self-sufficient trust, but the voluntary funds just never materialized and money from the printing expenses also ate heavily into the cash cow .

All in all, I don't see a loving nor a kind god working through such people and providing a blessing, if there ever was one, which was wasted or lost (or never happened) after the novel non-scriptural idea of British Israelism formed the central basis of the theology of the Worldwide Church of God .

As further evidence, the Worldwide Church of God, Ambassador College in California and the British land holdings and publishing house are all gone .

I sure enjoyed hearing both the father's and the son's voices though - very consoling and smooth, although collectively they had no answers and only proffered multitudes of questions that neither never answered .

It's a good thing you never invested in either of the Armstrongs too .

1216932 2011-07-16 00:53:00 Time for a touch of fiscal reality for the Obarma administration- namely neither an individual or a business or an individual can continue a rakes progress of borrowing to pay for day to day expenses - with Nations as opposed to businesses and individuals, the reality just takes longer to kick in, but the consequence of insolvency is just the same but on a massive scale.

I don't have sympathy let alone affection or admiration for politicians of any hue, and for the USA, just like the EU PIGS, there comes a time when austerity must become the order of the day. Perhaps the time is overdue for the US government to start living within it it's income and repaying debt. Increasing the debt ceiling is not the cure, merely a temporary postponement of the day of reckoning at the cost of increasing the size of the economic problems the USA faces.
To contain the economic problem and reverse the slide into the slough of debt and eventual national insolvency with a catacylsmic world wide depression, maybe a few pet projects and the odd herd of sacred cows need to be slaughtered.

1216933 2011-07-16 01:13:00 Guess thats what happens when you spend trillions killing people in other parts of the world.

At some stage the good ol' USA will just have to become a puppet state under China as a balance against the might of the USSR.

You heard it first here folks.

The great white experiment is a complete failure.

Now, how about some rice?

1216934 2011-07-16 01:33:00 Wars used to be profitable. The VietNam war was maybe a break-even for the war industries. But the latest police actions and waste of tax dollars has finally caught up with the US economy.

I blame a lot of the 'surprise package' of indebtedness to the rise in the cost of oil, and the resulting loss of freedoms by a neo-Nazi police state brought about by do-gooders, tree huggers and enviro freaks who have single handedly taken the profits out of industry and forced by legal mischief, the big manufacturers to seek cheaper, non-union labor outside the CON/US.

If fuel prices had remained low, then the transportation of those raw and finished goods from Off Shore to the US would still be cheap and viable.

Now it costs so much to transport those same goods to the US from the Asian lands, that the costs don't pencil out.

SJ, yes we know Herbert passed away, but those evil father and son successors' sold up everything and are apparently horded the original wealth .

Herbert's son was dis-membered from the Church tooo .

I did donate to Herbert's Kiwi diocese and over a short period, won three large bonus bond prizes of $NZ5,000 . 00 each !, nothing much won since this Church changed hands and no donations made to it either .

Yes there were a lot of good books written by Armstrong snr . the most fascinating being The United States and Britain in Prophecy, which highlighted what my late father always remarked on in the 1930's, we were part of the 10 lost tribes of Israel .

The Press of today's date has a flyer stating that the late Herbert had a greater work than both Gerry Falwell and Billy Graham combined .

Now gold we could use a bit of right now, our house needs to be repaired after the one or two earthquakes we have sustained, lol, wife and I will be well gone by the time the EQC that's (earthquake commission) get around to us in the green zone .
