1216808 2011-07-15 11:09:00 p.s. No one advised how to kill the tree but not important now.

One of my sons in law is a professional arborist living in Western Australia. When I was over there last, he dropped a huge and very dangerous mulberry tree in their back garden, and then cut thin grooves with the chainsaw tip in a chess board pattern across the top of the stump, and spread some fluid all over the top and into the grooves.

It wasn't Roundup - it was some poison he had that he hinted he shouldn't have... Sorry I can't recall the name of the poison (which is why I didn't reply earlier - I thought someone else might know). My son in law was confident it would stop regrowth.

An alternative would be to get in a stump grinder, and take the stump out that way.

1216810 2011-07-15 11:57:00 That's a defoliant I think - I doubt that it would do anything to a massive stump, and with a baby in the house, just out of hospital, I can't see my son in law playing around with Agent Orange. Perhaps you jest. John H (8)
