1243415 2011-11-14 04:48:00 Hello,

I posted a topic earlier with specs to a $4000 PC that I was intending on having built by Computer Lounge. However, I can't afford that any more and I have dropped my price range to $2500.

They sent me the following quote for $2499

Is the CPU OK or is it worth trying to get an i7? Also, would this support 5.1 surround sound? I just didn't want to bother the email support people with my questions.

What does everyone think?

Thanks,
Caleb

So, what do you think of the build as a whole? Will the CPU be powerful enough

1243418 2011-11-14 05:30:00 Depends what youre going to do with it. If its for normal usage, anything will do. I wouldn't spend 2.5K or 4K on a computer system tho (If I was building it myself) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1243419 2011-11-14 05:43:00 I agree with Speedy, you could get a decent enough PC for a lot cheaper than that..... suppose it depends on what you are going to use it for. springa886 (10558)
1243420 2011-11-14 05:53:00 I would use it for gaming (such as WoW, The Sims and Skyrim) as well as school work, Microsoft Office, heavy internet browsing and some photoshop.

I am a big multitasker and I would like a computer that can handle multiple tasks at once well.

Thanks for the help

1243421 2011-11-14 06:04:00 Are you building this yourself? I have a friend who is getting a similar pc for sub 2k. icow (15313)
1243422 2011-11-14 06:06:00 I'm having it built by computerlounge.co.nz Caleb Watson (16566)
1243423 2011-11-14 06:27:00 Wow. They aren't even charging you anything to build it. I'm impressed (assuming that quote includes build cost). I still feel as if you could get the same or equivalent parts cheaper elsewhere but then they can't really build it for you (for free at least). icow (15313)
1243424 2011-11-14 06:59:00 I believe they are charging to put it together, its all included in the 2500 Caleb Watson (16566)
