1243282 2011-11-13 09:42:00 On the 6th Nov 2009 I bought a Toshiba Satellite A500 PSAR3A-1K002 laptop
At the time of purchase I took just the standard warranty of 12 months. Then on the 18 September 2011 after working with my computer for about 10 minutes the screen went black, but could see a faint image of the desktop on the screen.
The following morning I took the Laptop to my my local computer shop for repairs.
Please see attachments for a description of work done.
Basically they thought it may be the inverter, and then narrowed it down to the LCD panel. They did not have a lcd panel and I had to wait for one to be brought into the country. When it finally turned up and fitted it, the problem still existed. They have now narrowed down to a motherboard issue. And are saying it would now be uneconomical to repair. it and has only lasted a total of about 22 months.
Does anyone have any ideas about how to get it going. The computer its self works good, Will work if plugged into a separate monitor. Has any one else struck this problem?

1243285 2011-11-13 22:19:00 They should be fixing it, you take it to the authorised Toshiba repairers, not someone in general.
It worked when he swapped out the screen the first time right?

Although they don't say if they tested with a cable exactly the same as the old one...

Tend to agree there. Reading the letters, and working through a process of elimination, the motherboard could be suspect.
