1245366 2011-11-25 01:50:00 Just in the last few days I have started to experience lousy picture and sound on Prime/Maori/Stratos/Trackside/Parliament/ National Radio/Concert Programme/TV33/TV28(Chinese)

The picture and audio break up and make it impossible to watch the programme. Sometimes it seems as if another channel is trying to come through on the one selected. eg when trying to watch Parliament it seems as if Stratos is also coming through behind Parliament?

I am getting good reception on TV1/TV2/TV3/TV4/U/TV7/TV3+1/C4

We will be getting our signal from the Waiatarua transmitter

Although in the past I have had intermittent problems with TV3, but at present it seems to be OK.

I have checked my signal strenth on TIVO and all channels are around 81 to 83%

This is happening on both my TIVO and my Zinwell decoder, so it is not a problem with a device.

Help

P.S. I guess I should mention that I am in the Opaheke area of Papakura, South Auckland

1245367 2011-11-25 02:29:00 Aerial and/or coax cable fault? (Elements or wiring has come off?).
Do you have a splitter in the cable circuit (this will halve the signal strength to two devices, by thirds to three etc)?
Do you have a signal amplifier (you may need one).
It could also be a transmitter problem.

Think that effect is caused by the error correction in your decoder/s trying to display a good frame/picture out of the corrupted signal you're receiving.

1245368 2011-11-27 21:23:00 I am a moron. UHF aerial mount had failed and the aerial was hanging by a cable, vertically. I could still get good reception on some channels as the old VHF aerial was linked to the UHF aerial, so VHF channels stood received a good signal.

Moral of the story. Check aerial before posting question.
