1245091 2011-11-23 22:19:00 COA and CD version must match.

If your COA is XP Home (no service pack) and you are trying to install from a SP1 CD that's probably your problem.

If one is OEM and the other retail that won't help either.

Another thing to take into account, is the COA a "Standard Microsoft OEM" or a "HP\Dell\Whatever OEM" key? - I think there is a difference there too, sometimes.

1245093 2011-11-25 00:29:00 Just what error are we talking about ??
Is it saying wrong install key ??

Any XP Home OEM CD should work.
The COA has allays worked for me no matter what SP level the install CD is (XP )
Didnt matter if it said HP, Tosh on the COA etc etc

Are you using a XP Pro install CD, or a XP retail or upgrade CD ?? That would cause issues.

1245094 2011-11-25 08:52:00 The message says invalid product key and yes have original OEM disk. Have rung Microoft they couldn't find anything on the product number and requested i send photos of both label and disk which i have done. Just waiting to hear back. WayneMiddy (14028)
1245095 2011-11-25 09:01:00 Any XP Home OEM CD should work. Not actually correct.

I've had it happen lots of times as well, the COA is legit, the XP CD is legit, yet it errors with wrong key. All the Correct Versions OEM XP home or pro, which ever version you are using.

As Agent mentioned some Older COA's wont work on some newer CD's and vise versa. The problem usually arises when a pre SP1 COA is used on a SP1 + CD.

In my cupboard of Software, I got every version of XP HM & Pro from pre SP1 to Sp3. Two of the worse ones are Old PC Company and Dell COA's, they can be a real PITA :annoyed:

First you have to install with a pre SP1 CD, then put in SP1, Then upgrade to SP3 -- Cant usually jump from pre SP1-Sp3 - it throws a real hissy fit.
