1244594 2011-11-21 02:55:00 Over last few weeks Telecom Xtra Yahoo mail (latest version - out of beta hah!) has been intermittently springing a plethora of error codes but generally comes right after a bit of a nap. This morning...wow was I the lucky one as I experience it progressively melting down and faulting with ever increasing regularity. Pain in the proverbial as I had to prewrite emails and save in word for safetys sake.
This is but a small % of the error codes we clients can see now in a given hour or so

Anyway help desk seems rather overloaded, but were polite and trying hard to help when they called back a long time later...admitted there are issues, which I took to imply half the southern hemisphere...not just my little corner of Auckland.
Curiously I have some emails from the help desk arrived recently...If only I could read them.
Fascinating to see that when the page sort of loads in both IE9 or Firefox the annoying and tedious advertising loads immediately and cycle away merrily...bit of a shame because Telecom used to give us the old and reliable Yahoo Promail which was advert free.

Anyone else experiencing the delights of a Yahhoo today...choke!! ??

1244595 2011-11-21 03:04:00 They are having intermittent problems for quite some time already and I've contacted their help desk a couple of times and as usual, their technical dept claims that there is no problem!. Since it's only 'intermittent', I just bear with it. Apparently, the problem is getting worst today and their helpdesk is over-loaded. Hopefully, they have 'recognised' the problem and are doing something about it. bk T (215)
1244596 2011-11-21 04:16:00 Sounds like a really good reason to ditch the Yahoo provided Xtra mail service. Unfortunately if you are wedded to an @xtra.co.nz address you don't have any choice in the matter.

However if you have your own domain then say tata to this shitty service. I have been having issues with a couple of client and the multiple access scenario (2x Outlook + iPhone + iPad) causing the Outlook clients to constantly ask for a "Network Password". I get the impression that the Yahoo authentication service just is not able to handle this properly as evidenced in the Outlook Logging logs.

Just converted this weekend another client to the free Google Apps package and configuring 2x Galaxy phones and 4x Outlook (now via IMAP, bye bye POP) for him. Little bit of a learning curve but he seeing the benefits already.
And bye bye slack ISP service.

1244597 2011-11-21 04:39:00 Yahoo's email has been full of bugs and intermittent problems as long as I can remember.

Haven't been able to log in properly all afternoon, which is a bit worse than usual though.

It seems every time they "upgrade" it, it gets worse.

...

Agreee. Since Xtra 'upgraded' to yahoo, endless intermittent problems developed.

Is Yahoo really that bad?

1244600 2011-11-21 07:06:00 For several weeks now any Yahoo mail is not getting thru to TelstraClear/Paradise addresses, they are blaming each other. It comes through to Gmail OK.

Has anyone any ideas how to fix this????

1244601 2011-11-21 07:14:00 What is Telecom's CEO doing, who gets a couple of NZ $M a year? bk T (215)
1244602 2011-11-21 08:03:00 Doesn't matter, if you have a problem with Yahoo email and you complain to Telecom they just tell you that they can't do anything because they aren't Yahoo.

Isn't it great?

If you are not wedded to your @xtra.co.nz email address then vote with your feet and go else where, but make sure that you tell Telecom why.

All this bring this back to my mind. juha.saarinen.org
