1218573 2011-07-23 05:32:00 If you had the money would you buy an iPad or an Android tablet and why would you choose one over the other. Does an iPad mean you need an iTunes account?

Why would you consider a tablet over a netbook or laptop?

1218574 2011-07-23 06:08:00 ipads and andriod tablets are no where near powerful or capable enough to replace laptops or anything with a real os (windows, mac, linux). As for the andriod or ipad thing, go to noel leeming or whatever try both, buy the one you like. icow (15313)
1218575 2011-07-23 06:12:00 I did have the money and bought an Android 3.0 tablet.

Why? Becasue I like all the extras with the Android tablet I went for - flash supported, SD card slot, HDMI etc - that weren't available on other models at the time. I didn't need 3G so just went for a wifi version.

I went for the Acer A500 and it is a great tablet. Got it for just over $700 so pricewise compares extremely well with the other options out there.

The Android app store is growing every day.

With the iPad you need itunes (I'm not a fan of that software and won't have it on any of my PC's). You need to download apps to run Youtube and other flash related bits and bobs. There are some cool apps for the iPad but Android will catch up.

Also the cameras on the iPad are pretty crappy compared to the Android tablets.

If you want to do a lot of keyboard based stuff then teh on screen keyboards can get tiresome after a while.

1218576 2011-07-23 06:12:00 Tablets are toys, Good for simple games, media files, web browsing and novelty apps.

I personally wouldn't bother buying one, But if I did then I would only consider some cheap chinese crap running Android.

1218577 2011-07-23 06:14:00 I'm not asking for me I wouldn't buy one. But trying to offer subjective advice to someone when you don't really know yourself isn't easy hence why I asked gary67 (56)

1218580 2011-07-23 07:21:00 Have been thinking of getting a cheap tablet. Something that I can store videos on and transport around easily. Laptop works, but it's still not as easy as I'd like. --Wolf-- (128)

1218582 2011-07-23 07:27:00 Well for someone else, they *might* not be satisfied if it's not a iPad :p Seriously, attitudes aside. The Apple gear has have a lot of marketing appeal and many people may not need all those features. If it's work it's probably a laptop these days over a PC for *consumers* but if it's not work it's probably going to a Pad. Nomad (952)
