1218771 2011-07-24 22:56:00 Wratterus strange nothing here 180m altitude plenty around the hills, but the high tops are still showing plenty of rocks etc so no where near as thick as it was a couple of weeks ago. Just a light coating at the head of 88 valley. Arnie (6624)
1218772 2011-07-24 23:17:00 Yeah it was odd, very patchy - St Arnuad/Rainbow who got hammered last week barely even got a sprinkling last night. wratterus (105)

1218777 2011-07-25 04:05:00 Tyre's on roof zqwerty. Earthquake damage or what.? Just being nosy. lol. BobM (1138)
1218778 2011-07-25 06:38:00 Yep, tiles and ridge caps bashed out of roof by lateral supports punching them out from below in Feb earthquake, so insurance company put huge tarpaulins on roof to cover holes instead of replacing tiles. Acts like a huge parachute so I put tyres along roof to stop ballooning, I need to put up more.

Our house is in the Orange zone here, 1 of only 5 or so in this area of the Heathcote River flood plain, we are in limbo waiting for a decision, although it seems a foregone conclusion that the house will be demolished, what is in question is whether we rebuild here or not.

All the large "massy" areas of the house with lots of inertia have sunk into the ground, fascia bricks all round house, firewall sunk 8cm and swung damaging floors, roof and walls, most windows and doors don't open or close properly and the floors are very uneven. Concrete pads at the entrances to the flat and house sunk unevenly and damaged walls and floors. Concrete tile roof has completed the random damage all over the house. Hot water tanks sunk down and one broken, out of use.

The snow on the tarpaulins has slipped off much sooner than it normally does, the rest of the roof not covered still has snow on it. The slipped off snow has broken off and bent new guttering we only just replaced before earthquakes and also flattened a hedge which we quite like. Trees have broken branches and many plants damaged in other parts of the garden caused by weight of the snow.
