Unfortunately I've been using it for years and changing would be a hassle I'd rather avoid. Besides, I like my address. Also, the Hotmail interface sucks and Gmail has retarded security policies regarding attachments. I'm not about to start paying for anything else just to get email either. Would Telecom even care? They don't run the email any more, Yahoo do, In fact Telecom probably wouldn't even notice. |

| 1244605 | 2011-11-21 23:22:00 | If enough people bugged out from Telecom then my guess is yes they would care. After all I pay then $600 per year for my line for which the infrastructure has already been paid for, many times over. A few hundred or thousand people leaving would start to hit the bottom line fairly quickly. The key is actually teliing them why you are leaving. I have a vanity domain for email and host it myself so I am not dependant on any ISPs idea of how email should be run. |

| 1244607 | 2011-11-22 23:25:00 | I would suggest that if you could, but Telecom don't offer that option. You can have that if you want to dispense with your @xtra.co.nz account. There is another option, which I implemented for another client that needs to keep their @xtra.co.nz account for various reasons. If you have an alternative email provider, be that GMail, Hotmail or own hosting solution, then simply setting the forwarding option to the alternate address is possible. |

| 1244609 | 2011-12-15 08:25:00 | Hal9000 advice starting to look seriously sensible and may just be a new year project. Some telecom Xtra numpty has had a fiddle and the email is melting down again today and getting worse. Of most interest is the wider range of error messages we can now delight in seeing all to no avail in terms of giving us a halfway decent service. One of my nerd friends reckons its Telecom XTra fault and not Yahoo...claims to have tested various international yahoo accounts today and only lil ol yahoo NZ is falling apart. Oh how I'd love the old Yahoo classic pro email version back like we used to get before some marketing genius foisted this rubbish on us.. |
