1244620 2011-11-22 04:07:00 Telecom told me Anything@xtra.co.nz will work. Your modem may require a password. Any password will do. linw (53)
1244621 2011-11-22 10:05:00 Thanks all...

I went for a Billion 7800NL instead - so fingers crossed for tomorrow

1244622 2011-11-23 08:04:00 well I have spent all afternoon and the evening getting the modem to work, I have been on the phone to Telecom and everything is fine at their end - I get the DSL light but not internet light which means no authentication- there is a quick set up scan which has picked up the correct VCI VSI settings as well as PPPoA, so I'm at a complete loss. I'm sure it is something simple.
Anybody have any thoughts?

1244623 2011-11-23 08:20:00 Do you have the latest firmware? Might be a compatibility issue. Agent_24 (57)
1244624 2011-11-23 19:32:00 Telecom should be able to tell you what is happening when your modem tries to authenticate. Worth asking them to monitor that phase. linw (53)

*horrible laughter*
Clearly you've never tried asking them to do just that...

Though If you've ever managed to do so, I salute you!

So you have VPI 0 and VCI 100

Have you got filters installed on all your phones, sky etc
Try connecting the modem to another phone jack
Do you have a monitored security alarm in the house.
