1218475 2011-07-26 02:03:00 I seem to remember hearing on the news that he was wanting to wear a military type uniform to court. A prison uniform would be suitable I think. Bobh (5192)

I haven't been able to work that out either. If he was so anti-Islam or anti-migrant, why did he bomb and shoot 'native' Norwegians, instead of immigrants?

All I can come up with is that if he had shot immigrants, perhaps he thought it wouldn't have made much of a statement. However if he shot nice young Norwegians from the political party that he blames for the increase in migration, the shock effect would be greater? Maybe he figures in his twisted brain that left wing politicians might change their tune out of fear of more people like him?

That is the best that I can do in trying to work out what was going on in his parallel universe.

1218477 2011-07-27 06:19:00 He's lucky he live in the EU as he won't get the death penalty and there's no doubt there's some EU law that prevents him from being put away for the rest of his life..

I heard on the news that he could be charged with 'Crimes Against Humanity'. That would get him a thirty year sentence. Thirty years is not long enough. It also appears that his Lawyer could plead insanity as a defence.

There was a live interview with his lawyer on BBC last night.

Seems rather strange, he did mention that he thought Breivik was insane, but they way he put it... It made Breivik seem a psychopath rather than insane.

More interestingly, Breivik specifically asked for this lawyer, who is a member in fact a member of the Labour Party (something Breivik does not, apparently, know.)

I heard mentions that maximum sentence for murder, iirc, is 21 years?

1218479 2011-07-27 06:59:00 Apparently the lawyer has a good track record in defending political idiots like this - I assume that is why the current idiot retained him despite the lawyer being a Labour man.

I would assume that the idiot's instructions to his lawyer will be to cease and desist with an insanity plea. That would be the worst thing for his political platform - to be called insane. I assume the legal system in Norway is different from the one we have inherited from Britain, so perhaps the lawyer does not have to follow instructions from his client?

And personally, I would prefer him to be sentenced to a finite term of imprisonment rather than being banged up in a psychiatric hospital - I would prefer that a dangerous sod like this could not be released on the say so of a trick cyclist.

I think and I may be wrong but the reason he went to the island was to wax the labour party people who were camping there.
I reason that the labour party would be the natural enemy of a far right wing person.

You are correct. The Labour Party was his target.

I simply think he is unaware and things might change when he learns of it.
According to the lawyer he expected to have been "stopped" after the explosion. Perhaps he wished to die a martyr, such transparent hypocrisy with his lawyer will do him no good from his political standpoint.

Unless he has a particular agenda with this lawyer (as a member of the labour party, perhaps)or point to prove, which I think just might be the case.

Should have done the decent thing then and turned himself into a martyr even his father said why didn't he shoot himself
