2011-11-23 03:24:00 | I've a Win 7 system image created and stored in another HDD of my PC. Now, I got a new HDD to replace the present OS HDD. I tried to restore the Image to the new HDD but failed. I've tried from both within Wlin 7 and from Startup dvd but without luck. Is it possible at all?

2011-11-23 19:00:00 | If the Image is not seeing the new Drive, you may have to format it it first. One other thing I have found as well, most of the time the if new drive is smaller than the original it wont image back, it has to be the same size or larger.

2011-11-23 20:52:00 | Its not always the case, usually you will get a message saying the drive is to small ( or words to that effect). Is the drive partitioned & formatted ?? That can give problems as well if not ??. Its easy enough to format/partition the drive by either partition software or Via command prompt and the recovery CD. If you need instructions just say and I'll post back each step Via command prompt/recovery CD.

2011-11-23 23:31:00 | Thanks, wainuitech. This drive has been partitioned and there are data on the 2nd partition. | bk T (215) | |
2011-11-24 03:17:00 | Awh that could be a problem -- esp if the backup is on the second partition -- The Windows Imaging /backup doesn't like putting back an image on the same drive that's partitioned. | wainuitech (129) | |
2011-11-24 03:44:00 | It's OK. Will get a third party software to do the job. Thanks, anyway.
