1244856 2011-11-22 22:05:00 I bought a USB 3.0 Card and installed the NEC driver that came with it.
After plugging the Docking station which supports USB 3.0 and plug it in the USB 3.0 slot .
After powering the docking station on the PC comes up with a message saying This device can perform faster if you plug it into a high speed USB3.0 port.

Since the USB3.0 has two ports. I tried the other one but the message came up

I can see from device manager that the driver is rather old dated at around 2009.

SO I uninstalled it and installed RENESSA USB 3.0 Driver but the same message comes up

Anyone has any ideas whats going on?

1244857 2011-11-22 22:09:00 Are you running Windows XP by chance? l0gic (6781)
1244858 2011-11-22 22:23:00 It could be a bug and it doesn't realise it's already in the fast port. Agent_24 (57)

According to his sig...yes

Ninja - it also says Service pack 2 in your sig - is that correct?

If so, that will probably be why, I think XP requires SP3 for usb 3 to function

1244861 2011-11-23 00:49:00 Is the cable a USB 3 cable? It looks like overclocking can also cause that message Speedy Gonzales (78)

That throws away my XP idea. Perhaps check with the vendor and see if they release x86/x64 drivers and make sure you have the correct x64 ones installed?

1244863 2011-11-23 01:44:00 I couldn't get a Vantec Nexstar USB3 dock to work on my P55A motherboard USB3 ports and eventually returned the dock.

I replaced it with a USB3 portable HDD - it worked fine

1244864 2011-11-23 03:39:00 It says it's a uSb 3 cable

What is being overclocked?
Ninjabear (2948)
1244865 2011-11-23 03:56:00 According to one site if you overclock the PCI bus speed to something that it doesnt / cant support, (in the BIOS), this can / will bugger up USB. And you'll see that message that you posted Speedy Gonzales (78)
