| 1246425 | 2011-11-30 09:12:00 | Hi there all. Got a mates Hp Pavilion dm1-4015tu netbook that they want dual boot on. I have a windows 7 ultimate and windows XP Pro SP3 dsc. 1st off I have burnt the hp restore cds off for the machine so they can take it back to stock if need be. Went to install XP but its not showing up the harddrive or any partions. Had a look in BIOS and there is no option for hdd to change IDE / AHCI like on some machines. The HP site has some XP drivers on it. What im after is help finding the right driver for the hdd to unlock it. I no how to use nlite and have a usb dvd drive for netbook. Any help would be mint. | 1246426 | 2011-11-30 09:36:00 | Theres not a lot of drivers for XP, according to this (h10025.www1.hp.com) There maybe a native sata option in the BIOS When attempting to install XP on a computer that was designed with Vista or Windows 7, the installation disc may not recognize the hard drive. The installation reports an ATA error that it cannot find a hard drive on the computer. Newer operating systems use Serial ATA (SATA) to control the hard drive, while XP and older operating systems use ATI-native technology. The BIOS, which controls all of the hardware components, is using native-SATA drivers but the XP installation disc cannot recognize this newer technology. To resolve this, and disable the native SATA configuration in the BIOS, do the following steps. Open the CD/DVD optical drive to remove the XP installation disc, and turn off the computer. Press the power button and press f10 to open the BIOS Setup. Use the keyboard to navigate the Configuration options to locate the Native-SATA setting. If there is a SATA setting, select the Disable option, and then press F10 to save the change and restart the computer. If there is no SATA setting, you will have to find a third-party tool to change the settings. After changing the SATA setting, insert the XP Installation disc, restart the computer, and then follow the Microsoft installation instructions. If the BIOS does not have a setting to disable the native-SATA settings, you may have to use a procedure called slipstreaming to install XP. This procedure involves using third-party tools that are not supported by HP and may cause unexpected problems. You should search the web for instructions and tools before attempting to change the Vista or Windows 7 operating system. Only thing is, if you disable native sata, it'll also disable it for Win7 |

| 1246427 | 2011-11-30 09:54:00 | Ok I just did a restart and F10 into bios and there is no native SATA options. to be honest there is just about nothing in there. Adjust time and date, boot order test hdd and menory, set passwords, error logs, and couple of other things to do with fast boot and delay times. looks like its slipstream way. I have seen some vid's and sites on Nlite and have used it couple of times now. I have got a copy of the windows xp cd in a folder on desktop and got Nlite installed. Just need help finding right files to slip in. Thanks for reply. |

(voidseesaw.com 01128769.7z) Its got everything (inc net framework files), in it (except a service pack, and Oct 2011 updates). Thats the direct link, its 212mb. You can also add this (voidseesaw.com) <- direct link - 1.21k The 212mb file also installs WGA, bitlocker, browserchoice, windows search, and powershell, which can be removed with this (voidseesaw.com) You have to right mouse on OnePiece_Remove_AddOn_For_WinXP_UP_124CC161821584E B0E55F73DBDD8A0BC and select save link as (depending on the browser you use). And you'll need this to remove the files you dont want (integrator.siginetsoftware.com). After you slipstream the service pack / remove what you dont want in nlite (services etc). And slipstream the 212mb file in either Nlite or RVM integrator Or you could go to the main site above (wait until the Nov updates come out - wait a few days for this guy to update the main update file), then download it |

If this thing has some version of windows on it now, I would look in device manager, and check the NIC / what brand it is. On a windows 7 pc at moment. edit. Just want save target as and typed .cab on the name and save type as to all files and its not a HTML file now its a Cabinet file. Is the right? |

If winzip or similar is installed, it will open it Another thing is, when using something like Nlite you should really use the same version of windows (if youre slipstreaming XP files, you should use XP, not Vista or Win7). And also, if you use 64 bit Win7 (or any 64 bit version of windows), you shouldnt try and slipstream any version of 32 bit windows. It can fail (even tho Nlite may slipstream whatever files you've added to it) |
