1219289 2011-07-26 08:57:00 Impulse purchases from the Steam sales can be very disappointing, but at least they only cost you $5 - $10. I bought Command & Conquer 4 without reading all the details & fired it up for the first time today only to discover it requires a constant connection to EA's DRM servers :crying

I was about to start a single player game when I got booted out of the game & back to an EA logon screen because the game couldn't check in for a few seconds. I would have been really pissed off if I was in the middle of a game when I got booted out.

1219290 2011-07-26 09:00:00 yeah consistant connection for games suck. All it does is piss people off and make them hate [insert dev or publishers name]. icow (15313)
1219291 2011-07-26 10:12:00 is that just EA or all publishers on steam?? the constant connection thing GameJunkie (72)
1219292 2011-07-26 10:18:00 It's up to each publisher, you can run steam in Offline mode and play games that don't require online DRM. The non-Steam version of C&C4 is the same. inphinity (7274)
1219293 2011-07-26 10:20:00 It is just EA I think. Every other game I have purchased on steam has worked fine in offline mode. Greven (91)
