| 1246045 | 2011-11-30 01:56:00 | What resolution are you running? I've heard that you shouldn't go to anything much bigger than 24" without going above 1920x1080 because it starts to look bad. | icow (15313) | ||
| 1246046 | 2011-11-30 02:10:00 | Maybe if you attach it to your head... My 46" TV is 1080P after all. For any given size and viewing distance there is a resolution threshold above which you stop seeing improvements. Some people may notice this at 27" on a computer desk using 1080P, but I sincerely doubt it. People always convince themselves more is better. For example, at the viewing distance in an average lounge you need a screen size approaching 50" to actually see an improvement between 720P and 1080P for High def movie viewing. And yet people will not buy 720P TVs. If that High def 1080P set looks better it's likely because it's a better more featured model than because of the actual resolution. The 27" is 1920 x 1080 and looks great. I deliberately looked for a model that was that resolution so as not to add any extra load to the graphics card for gaming. when I first got it, it seemed too big and I had to push it all the way to the back of the desk. It's crept back a few inches since then. I run dual screens also, and it pays to stick to the same resolution for both with Nvidia or it causes a lot of extra load for some reason. The secondary monitor is a 1080P 24" model, and does not look any clearer. :) this turned into more of a rant than intended.. |
