1219706 2011-07-29 08:53:00 That wouldn't surprize me the slightest but the man made global warming fanatics won't like it..
Do you mean the one above.

1219708 2011-07-29 11:43:00 There was a program on Prime tonight at 8:30pm Friday called How the Earth Made Us. It discussed the longevity of our new-found power over the planets cycles.

It talked about how the natural raising of mountain ranges caused the release of carbons. Man also contributes by changing the landscape with heavy machinery and farming methods.

Indeed. Deforestation decreases the albedo of the land surface, and therefore the land absorbs more heat. Deforestation also leads to unstable banks, causing erosion, which further adds to the initial deforestation problem.

And that's the first part of the problem.....landuse change affects biodiversity, water and air quality....

1219710 2011-07-29 12:05:00 I'm watching a program on Nat Geographic at the moment called Naked Science. It is quite an eye opener as to just what an effect volcanoes have. Like after one the average Temp over the USA dropped 9 degrees. mikebartnz (21)

No no, it;s we, mankind that causes that!

1219712 2011-07-30 03:24:00 The Global warming Alarmist have resorted to some very dubious science, and even that which has been subject to selected peer review is suspect.
On top of this the Alarmists for the unproven Global Warming theory, now conveniently renamed "Climate Change", because the globe has inconveniently slowed or stopped warming, in lieu of scientifically substantiated argument their normal recourse is to demonise those who disagree with their view.

Whether the measurable changes are man made or part of the long term variation is equally not proven , certainly not to any level that warrants governments inflicting harm on the economy of their own country, when the major emitters of CO2 into the atmosphere are actually accelerating the levels of their emissions, and the measures introduced by these governments will not make one iota of difference to the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere, but will give politicians quite a large slush fund that they have extracted from their own people to spend to their electoral advantage.

I should now await an expected stream of abuse from Climate change alarmists who cannot cope with anyone disagreeing with their slanted point of view.

So true.
Al Gore is the one that makes me laugh. Lived in a house that would have created three times the pollution to build and used three times the average in electricity consumption and then gallivants around the world creating even more pollution.

The other thing I would like to know is that we keep hearing about the ice melt on the Greenland side of the North Pole but never hear about it on the opposite side. So what is happening there.

1219714 2011-07-30 04:02:00 Plea to Mr Key.

Could you please cancel your Carbon Tax as the people in the South Island and much of the North Island are freezing. :crying

I had no idea the introduction of the tax could be so effective. :o

That seems to let those sharks operating our banks and financial sector off the hook then.
I've noticed that my albedo has dropped a bit recently, (Lucky really, with the Dragon on leave) but I had blamed the cold weather. I'm going out to plant a fair few trees right now.
