1219573 2011-07-28 23:52:00 You could try growing Icicles, I reckon you would be a success!! PJ :banana

Do not have much success with icicles here. They disappear when the sun comes out. Icicles are better grown in places like Central Otago.

1219574 2011-07-29 00:59:00 Vege shop up the road now have tomatoes (NZ) at $5.99.

Of more interest was petrol. Yesterday Gull and Mobil went $1.99 petrol and $1.39 diesel, BP remained $2.04 and $1.47. Today Gull was back at BP prices and Mobil still cheap.

1219576 2011-07-30 23:50:00 I saw lots of bananas in Oz last week and it wasn't the price that put me off - it was that they don't look anywhere near as good as the ones we get here. Twelvevolts (5457)
1219577 2011-07-31 01:38:00 If its out of season and pricey dont buy it. If everyone did that the people who sell the overpriced vegies would have to drop the price.
But there is always the people with too much money and few brains who continue to buy the overpriced stuff forcing the price up.
Almost annoys me as much as tourists who go the fiji for hols even though they have a military government who bashed any opposition.
Had a travelling salesman for a truck parts place skite about his hol there. I told him I hope you enjoyed it because we arent going to buy anything more off you again we will go to your opposition.

1219578 2011-07-31 01:47:00 Broccoli in Scrimp 'N Save on Friday was $1.89. Oh good I thought, I'll get one. Yeah right, they were about as big as a pimple on a pumpkin so I didn't bother.

1219581 2011-07-31 02:17:00 The price of Tomatoes is $12.99 a kg here in Dunedin so instead of a bagful we work out how many exactly we need :( Peppers are worse however. $30 a kg for Red ones or 7.99 for just 1. Canned tomatoes and pickled peppers are a cheaper option. As long as we are prepared to pay this there will never be a need for retailers to consider what we can reasonable afford :( ollieogg (6593)
