1246035 2011-11-28 08:13:00 Should have guessed, the 2500k has got to be one of the most popular cpu's at the moment. Not worth it unless your video editing and rendering. The only other major difference to consider is that the 2600k is hyperthreaded and the i5 is not. I'm not sure if thats worth $200 though. Up to you really. icow (15313)
1246036 2011-11-28 09:07:00 I think I might just spend the money on upgrading to Blu-ray, adding case lighting and adding a card reader haha Caleb Watson (16566)
1246037 2011-11-28 11:39:00 Heck my EVGA 460GTX SC runs Skyrim sweet @ HD resolutions on High Settings.... the 570 would be overkill but in saying that... if you can afford to do so by all means go with the 570! urbanguerilla (16164)
1246038 2011-11-29 23:26:00 It's called future proofing :p

What screen have you got/ are you getting? It's worth getting a decent one

1246039 2011-11-29 23:30:00 I'm thinking of getting a full HD LED Samsung 23" Caleb Watson (16566)
1246040 2011-11-29 23:38:00 Neither for me. ATI 6950 is what im getting :)! Had, and ive seen a few problems with Nvidia cards (560 Ti when it comes to gaming), so that kinda put me off. First ATI/AMD product though so i'll see how it works :P. EmoCat (16620)
1246041 2011-11-30 00:16:00 That's where computers are weird, I've always had Nvidia cards and never had a problem. Also, they were the ones recommended to my system, so I'll stick with them haha. Caleb Watson (16566)
1246042 2011-11-30 00:24:00 I find it ironic that Intel gets nVidia and AMD gets ATi when it's generally Intel > AMD and ATi > nVidia why didn't Intel just buy ATi? Oh well I prefer AMD anyway :p icow (15313)
1246043 2011-11-30 00:28:00 Ahh the wonderful mysteries of the computing world, haha Caleb Watson (16566)
1246044 2011-11-30 01:43:00 Looks like it's been covered, but to add my 2c there is absolutely no reason to upgrade from an i5 to an i7 for gaming. There is no difference you will notice.
A 570 on the other hand is in my opinion worth it over a 560Ti. Both are great cards that will play all the games you mentioned excellently, but with the extra horsepower the 570 will likely last you longer and enable you to play more games with all the eye candy cranked all the way up.

Upgrades that have a very noticeable positive effect rated in order of my opinion;

1. Monitor - you look at it all the time, mine gets bigger periodically and I've never regretted it (currently @ 27" I think it may stop growing due to desk space). Can last through many upgrades
2. Graphics card, but only if your current one can't handle the highest graphics settings in current games.
3. RAM, until you reach the point of "enough" - somewhere between 4-16Gb currently, 8 is the 64 bit gaming sweet spot IMO
4. CPU - but only if your current one is struggling or you regularly do CPU intensive tasks like video encoding
5. SSD.... well maybe. I have one, sure windows boots faster and WoW launches quicker but overall the experience isn't that different. A minor quality of life upgrade for most of us.
