2011-11-28 20:24:00 | I'll stick my hands up and recommend the Asus Transformer, they're freaking great and with the tablet dock they last for ages on battery. Performance is great. I believe they're also in line for a quick upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich! | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2011-11-28 22:21:00 | Thanks for all the helpful comments.... always best to get information from users.... I have d/l Calibre - thanks for the "heads up" on that.... looks excellent and the video demo. is great.... have recommended it to a couple of friends also. Bryden PS I would not use a tablet for typing.... I was an office wife during my working life so prefer a regular keyboard.... I no longer use Word - I have been using Open Office and am happy with that so other typing etc. programmes wouldn't matter....

2011-11-28 22:21:00 | A 10" tablet is big and heavy for ereading. I wouldn't recommend it for lengthy spells as they are tiring to hold after a while. See if you can try one for a couple of hours reading. OTH, an eink reader is small and light and lasts ages on bty.

2011-11-28 22:24:00 | You say the 10" is heavy - in comparison with other tablets or regular books? I don't think I would be happy with a 6" screen.... I am sure I could find something to prop the Asus on if I did find it tiring to hold.... Bryden | Bryden (4161) | |
2011-11-28 23:09:00 | The Transformer has a Keyboard dock, but it's optional, so you get the best of both worlds :) | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2011-11-28 23:52:00 | Chilling Silence.... what about the Samsung Galaxy? | Bryden (4161) | |
2011-11-28 23:55:00 | Galaxy Tab you mean? It's the one tablet I've not tried ... I've tried the Asus Transformer, Acer Iconia, Motorola Xoom, iPad, iPad2, Lenovo Thinkpad ... Definitely like the Transformer the most! | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2011-11-29 00:02:00 | I see the Galaxy doesn't have a USB port so I have probably answered my own question.... VBG Will check out the Asus tomorrow.... thanks.... | Bryden (4161) | |
2011-11-29 00:34:00 | Keep in mind the Transformer only has USB on the Dock... Just a heads up ;) | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
