Just curious, are he headphones plugged into the front or Rear ports on the PC ?

Just something to look at, open the control panel, make sure its in icon View, look for a second Audio Control.

Mine is Pictured below, (yours may be something else) - I opened it and moved the Audio controls (2nd pic) to full 100% While playing a song -- its a wonder you didn't hear SWMBO yelling -- What the F***k are you doing  The windows rattled and the dog nearly killed herself running out side with fright, and the speakers volume knob is only at about 1/3 volume :waughh:

Speakers not bad, it's the earphones that are problem.

1245432 2011-11-26 03:07:00 Can you try the Earphones in another Device and see if any better, something like another PC, or mP3 Player. Could be a problem with the earphones.

Usually if normal speakers are OK, you have to actually turn down earphones/Head Sets other wise you can cause hearing damage.

Unless its your SWMBO - then thats called selective hearing :D

I have noticed an ability to hear like a hawk when out of the room, strange why god gave that facility, could only be because god is a woman!

Have another headset, and that seems to do the job, sound wise, the abandoned ones are quite expensive too.

1245434 2011-11-26 08:44:00 Same thing used to happen, when I installed the ASUS audio drivers. The volume was too low. So, decided to use Win7's default drivers, which are better / louder

make sure the controls go up to 11
