1246454 2011-11-30 19:17:00 So in my recent thread i said that my Linksys WUSB600N was overheating quite frequently. I'm searching online for a decent one but im wondering whether i should stay with an External USB Adapter or get a Internal NIC. Bit hard as i've had alot of bad Internal ones (Died within 2 weeks) and problems with External Adapters (Slow).

Again, all help is appreciated :dogeye::waughh:

1246455 2011-11-30 20:19:00 I have an external Alfa and have never had an issue. nedkelly (9059)
1246456 2011-11-30 20:31:00 I've been looking at a few External adapters (Havnt found 'Alfa' yet). Mainly looking at Belkin products as their support is amazing, unlike Cisco support. For example: "Unplug and plug the adapter back into the USB port, this will solve your connectivity problem". EmoCat (16620)
1246457 2011-11-30 21:23:00 I use alfa because it has a rp-sma plug on it for external antennas nedkelly (9059)
1246458 2011-12-01 04:23:00 USB is convenient in that you can remove it easily. BUT if you are never going to do so, it's probably best to get a PCI card.

Less likely to fall out or overheat.

If the internal ones you bought died in 2 weeks either you are buying really crap ones, or you're doing something wrong to them.

You think THAT is "amazing support" ?

What happens if you unplug and plug it back, and it doesn't work? then what would you think of their support?

I use alfa because it has a rp-sma plug on it for external antennas

There are also adapters which have an RP-SMA that aren't Alfa. I have one, a LeoLink (TP-Link Ripoff)

@ "Amazing Support. Yeah thats what i was getting at.
As for the Internal NIC's..i was buying high-end 10/100/1000Mbps ones. Speed was slow (Was installed correctly..) and it they would just die after 2 weeks. Final guess is that its my Motherboard. Its an old Asrock M-ATX :P.

1246461 2011-12-01 20:02:00 I use a TP-Link external USB one that has a removable antenna, works really well for me. It's not in constant use though as it's my backup/ testing connection for when I'm not near a wired port.
I got a cheap generic one from first-in once, range was terrible and it lasted less than a day before giving up entirely.
