1219505 2011-07-27 08:17:00 This is important: "Entry is limited to those with a high-level A Bursary."
However, there are other ways of doing it I guess, like learn from someone who has done the course.

PS: there needs to be more support in NZ for SE courses.

1219506 2011-07-28 10:57:00 I did a Diploma of Software Engineering through Weltec, and it was a joke. Such a waste of time. Can't speak for Auckland Uni though. Is it a Bat. of Soft. Eng? pine-o-cleen (2955)

Just out of interest, what made it a poor course?

It was too generalised, they tried to cram too much into a two year diploma. It really should have been a degree course. I ended up knowing a little about a lot of things rather than actually knowing anything that would help me get a job.

I'm an alarm technician now!

1219509 2011-08-05 00:51:00 Software Engineering at The University of Auckland is offered as a specilisation of the B.E(hons) program. It is an intensive 4 year program - I completed my final year in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at UOA last year.

The first year of study is common amoung all specilisations, and then you branch off into your respective major. The following years combine theory, mathmatics, and of course software design. In your final year you will complete a year long honours project.

If you were open to considering other Universities, I hear that Software Engineering at Waikato University is the best in New Zealand.
