| 1246983 | 2011-12-04 05:25:00 | A usb or PCI tuner and a 2.4 GHZ + PC would help. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||

If you have a look at PB Tech or any other retail computer site they list a great variety of tuners with varying prices and capabilities. It depends what you want to do. | CliveM (6007) | ||
| 1246985 | 2011-12-04 21:12:00 | Hauppauge is a popular brand of Tuners, the HVR1200 is a PCI-e internal and the HVR900D is a USB external, both of which I've owned and been quite happy with. These are single tuners and quite cheap, you can also get dual tuners if you like to record / watch multiple channels at once but they are more expensive. (the single tuner can actually do multiple channels at once within the same transponder but is a bit limited) If you have windows 7 home premium the media centre will be all you need to watch TV. If you are using XP you will need codecs and software, it should come with the card (When I got mine there was no support for NZ standards out of the box and I used DVBViewer and PowerDVD ultra to get it working). For digital freeview (DVB-T) which is the best option you will need a suitable UHF aerial for your Area. You can also get DVB-S tuners for satellite Freeview which would require a dish (Sky dish works). Both of the models I mentioned also do analogue (not really worth it IMO) and the HVR1200 also has FM radio. |

| 1246987 | 2011-12-18 22:15:00 | Most cards come with a program to watch TV with but aren't always that nice to actually use. If you don't like the program that comes with the card, take a look at www.nextpvr.com/ or http: | Agent_24 (57) | ||
