1246862 2011-12-03 08:51:00 I just bought a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 750GB drive to use for backing up data.

It comes with some preinstalled Memeo software and other crap which i dont want to use.

Can i safely Format the entire hard drive before using it with Windows 7 / VISTA ?

I want to use some other software for backing up data to it.

Last time i posted for recommendation of a good backup software, many suggested Paragon Backup and Recovery Free software.
Is it still a good these days or is there some better ones avilable now ?

Thanks

1246863 2011-12-03 09:31:00 You should be able to format it with out any problems. I do it all the time with smaller USB drives, (250GB). At the end of the day all it is will be a standard Hard Drive inside a fancy case.

As for backup software --- Windows 7 has its own for images that works OK.

Personally I use Active@Disk Image (www.disk-image.net) to make images. It also does the usual backups as well.

On my own systems I have WHS as well as Fbackup (http://www.fbackup.com/) running nightly.
