1246889 2011-12-03 02:52:00 I tried Calibre - going from mobi to epub but each attempt failed..... Bryden (4161)
1246890 2011-12-03 03:32:00 So did you get an error message? Snorkbox (15764)
1246891 2011-12-03 04:41:00 I gave Calibre another try and converted to .pdf so that worked fine.... just didn't like the epub format for some reason.... now can someone tell me how I can get the .pdf files onto my tablet - I tried using Windows Explorer but although that worked once, the second time it didn't.... so I ended up emailing the second file to myself... this seems such a run-around I am sure there must be a better way....? 1246892 2011-12-03 04:57:00 Now I am getting the error messages as I try further volumes - says Error - Conversion Error - and there is a whole screed of computer jargon detail which means nothing to me unfortunately... sigh... Bryden (4161)
1246893 2011-12-03 05:10:00 Hmmmmmmmm Wonder if its something on your Computer causing it ?/

I have just had a look through the better half's huge collection of books, ( 4.25GB -- she has a few :rolleyes: ) and found two that are .mobi, and Calibre converted them with no problems what so ever to .epub.

If you want -- you can email me your book and I can try to convert it here to see if it gets the same errors and send it back if it works. PM me if you want so I can send a email address -- dont want the whole world to know it ( including spam bots) :p

I did the conversion as follows, import original book into Calibre - then convert, then once converted, right click it, save to disk, select location -done.

1246894 2011-12-03 05:44:00 Thanks for the offer - PM me? don't know what this is... sorry.... I gather that there is a Kindle app for Android but Amazon wont let me download it because of my geographical location.... guess that is because of the squabble between Apple and Samsung... I am less than pleased about this - it leaves me the customer out in the cold.... rude words could be said...

The Calibre just didn't convert at all.... I got the Failed - Conversion Error message.... maybe I should uninstall and reinstall.... with a reboot in between.... I noticed when I installed Calibre first it gave me the option to name my tablet but I had not bought this ******* thing at that stage... but now I cannot find that screen again despite a couple of reloads.... Help! VBG Bryden

1246896 2011-12-03 21:27:00 What device reads .mobi? there is probably a compatible app for the galaxy, no conversion needed.

From another forum;

www.mobileread.mobi a list of readers

These are fanfics that I have downloaded and converted to .mobi and wish to read on my phone.

You can place them in the Kindle folder on your phone via USB or using Dropbox and a file manager app and the Kindle app should read them just fine.
