1246805 2011-12-02 06:50:00 Hey Guys,

Am trying to have a look at my friends laptop (HP DV9700) She told me that it had a virus but looking at it it seems it has more like a hard drive issue. It sometimes boots and then stops half way.
I just managed to get into windows and started CCLeaner, when it gave me the results the screen turned light blue..... I DID read somewhere with these laptops they have problems with the graphics card...

Any suggestion from you guys????

1246806 2011-12-02 06:57:00 Will it boot into safe mode?? If it does scan it with tdsskiller. Thats if it runs in safe mode. This scans for rootkits. Does it crash with a bluescreen? If it does what does it say? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1246807 2011-12-02 07:05:00 Hey! Speedy! Long time no hear mate! Look, I can boot it...but not for long... It seems it just hangs itself, giving me a freezing distorted screen... and that's it! I thought I wait in the BIOS and see how long it took to hang itself.... around 25 sec, so it CANT be the HDrive right? mark1978 (13845)
1246808 2011-12-02 07:09:00 Looks like this laptop has mobo probs / issues. (h30434.www3.hp.com)Does it sound similar to this? (h30434.www3.hp.com) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1246809 2011-12-02 07:17:00 Hey Speedy, no temp to show me... Looked at the back of the Laptop, no dust build up and fan spins by startup
It asked me to go into safe mode but between there and the showing me the desktop it hung itself again
