2011-12-02 00:51:00 | Just wondering but..what is HijackThis used for? Its the first time i've ever heard/seen it. | EmoCat (16620) | |
2011-12-02 00:53:00 | It shows you whats running / installed. And it may show you if you've got malware / you're infected with something (altho, if you've got a rootkit), it may not show in a log). | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2011-12-02 00:56:00 | Might have to get it then. My PC at home has been acting strange lately. My sister decided it'd be a good idea to click and follow a phishing attack..then got my PC infected with malware. Tried malwarebytes but that thing is useless. Thanks :). | EmoCat (16620) | |
2011-12-02 01:01:00 | Depends what youre infected with. Some malware / / viruses etc can block anti spyware / virus programs from working properly. I would do a scan in safe mode / networking (so you can update malwarebytes). hijackthis is not an anti virus program or anything. So it wont remove anything automatically. I would also disable system restore (then scan the hdd) | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2011-12-02 01:06:00 | Already disabled system restores. I dont use them often, and i'd prefer it if the virus didnt move to them incase i do need to restore. I can see a domino effect coming. Safe Mode: Check Update MalwareBytes: Check Scan HDD + SSD: Check (OS is on SSD). Thanks again, i'll get right on this. Family eh? Who'd have em ;)

2011-12-02 01:16:00 | You cant do much about something ending up in the system restore folder. Thats how (some malware / and viruses) stay on the system. The only way you may get rid of it, is to disable SR. Then scan for viruses with a virus scanner. If you want get teamviewer. Then send a PM to me with the ID and pw teamviewer gives you (www.teamviewer.com). I can check it from here. Is there a virus scanner on the hdd? Dont worry, you'll see what I'm doing
