1221110 2011-08-05 09:59:00 Me and a mate want to get a good verticle engine for less than $100, something more than 5HP but 3 at the least.

Mostly for use in a go kart but also being used to run a piston pump and our boat :D by boat, 3-4m row board with a casual propeller

Preferably in the wellington/wairarapa area, we can convert a horizontal mower engine to verticle but a quick look on TM shows mowers being under powered and pricey.

Anyone know where to get one? we were looking at getting an old beat up quad (since it has all the parts pretty much) but they are all expensive too.

Cheers for suggestions

1221112 2011-08-06 08:13:00 Yeah, planning a trip to a wreckers, might try to get one of those FILTHY (toyata?) 700cc cars for the big frame that we have lying around and scavenge something smaller for the boat/small frame.

Trying to fix a 250cc 4 stroke briggs atm but the points are a bit shaky. Haven't tested the condenser yet but I think the magneto is dying. I can get a current but not enough to spark the plug. (small sparks off wires ONCE :/)

Sounds like a sticky points plunger.

Waste of time buying a motor for a casual propellor. It might get a better offer, decide it can't be bothered working, or simply doesn't want to get shafted.

It is probably on a benefit anyway.

Cheers
