1248414 2011-12-13 06:07:00 I am currently looking to buy a graphics card to replace the inbuilt graphics on my motherboard which sucks. I
am looking to pay around $150-200. Either ATI or nVidia will do. It will be used for gaming so will need to be reasonably fast. Also will need to either have a D-Sub output or a DVI to D-Sub converter as I have a old CRT screen at the moment. Any suggestions?

1248415 2011-12-13 06:10:00 I wouldn't consider anything less then the 6870.

1248416 2011-12-13 06:15:00 +1 for the 6870, if you're on a very tight budget go for the 6770 or look online and buy two 4870's second hand (normal $100-ish each). icow (15313)
1248417 2011-12-13 06:59:00 Also as a side note would a Wireless USB adapter or a Wireless PCI-E adapter be faster? quark (15122)
1248418 2011-12-13 07:14:00 Yeah, 6770 or GTX550Ti would be my choices in that price range. As for a wireless adaptor, assuming USB2, you'll likely get much the same performance out of them. PCI-e is probably preferable if you can, though. inphinity (7274)
1248419 2011-12-13 07:32:00 I'd go pci-e over usb anyday. icow (15313)
1248420 2011-12-14 20:11:00 Ill sell you my EVGA GTX460 for $200 if you like. Barnabas (4562)

Might not be an endorsement, but that's a solid $40 cheaper than I can usually get it for. Early Christmas Gift perhaps for me? :D I'm really tempted ...

Me three, Ive been going back and forth on the idea for days, I'd love a new video card though I really wanted a 560 Ti.

But then that 6870 packs a lot of punch for the price, and runs Bf3 on high detail at 50fps

They also have 4GB sticks of ram for $28

Of course, I am broke and unemployed.

Lmfao.

1248423 2011-12-14 22:12:00 It'd be a nice upgrade for the 4850 I've got currently :D

Was looking at the 6950, but the price difference on this is enough to make it immediately attractive!
