| 1248151 | 2011-12-11 06:37:00 | Hello, Yet another thread from me, but this should be the last regarding my new PC. I'm about to order, but I have found that there are three possible monitors that are all around the same price (give or take around $20). I was wondering which numbers matter when buying a screen to tell which is better. Here they are: Samsung (www.dicksmith.co.nz)[/URL] (currently out of stock at Computer Lounge but are usually $269) [URL="www.computerlounge.co.nz (www.dicksmith.co.nz 2FXC9011_0_med_v1_m56577569838620410.JPG&bmSubmit=selImgPathSub&selImgPathSub=Submit&bmHidden=PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441935515&bmHidden=FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302028251&bmFields=bmFormID%2CbmHidden%2CbmIsForm%2CbmForm%2 CbmUID%2CbmEditable%2CbmPrevTemplate%2CbmSubmit&bmHash=c7d44e9c8015bc2417a85361b3206dbf491cd57e) Viewsonic (www.computerlounge.co.nz) Thanks, Caleb |

If you live near Auckland it would be worth going into Playtech or similar and asking to have a look at some screens. PB Tech also have stores around NZ. | icow (15313) | ||

| 1248156 | 2011-12-11 08:10:00 | For me, definitely a matte finish screen. I can't stand the shiny ones that are more useful as actual mirrors than monitors. Something in 4:3 ratio (compatibility with older games if you are into that) or 16:10, I find 16:9 too narrow. Fastest pixel response time as possible to minimise ghosting (but this should not be an issue on anything recent) And of course, something with the blackest blacks you can get, especially if you are gaming or watching video. Colours, blacks, brightness and vibrancy etc are all things which you can only experience by looking at the thing. Blindly ordering a monitor online without seeing it if you have specific imagery tastes would be stupid. |
