1247916 2011-12-10 03:28:00 Wouldn't it be worth $100 to buy a SSD hard drive and put the OS on it and then just put your data, games, pictures and so forth on a regular hard drive? lostsoul62 (16011)
1247917 2011-12-10 03:50:00 Abolutely, if you could buy a reasonable sized SSD for $100. But you can't.

If you can get one somewhere for that price grab it

1247918 2011-12-10 08:27:00 Looking at at least double that for a decent quality/sized SSD, and probably more like three times. inphinity (7274)
1247919 2011-12-10 19:45:00 I've got myself an OCZ Agility 3 90GB drive that I have Win7, LOTRO, Team Fortress 2 and DotA on. Everything else is on a much larger secondary HDD.

I did have the 60GB model, but I ended up sitting right on 5-6GB HDD space most of the time so I ended up giving that to my wife to use, because she doesn't do Team Fortress.

If your mobo supports SATA3 then you really wanna look at something like that model. If it only supports SATA2 (3 G/bit per sec) then you might be OK with a slightly slower SSD, but I'd suggest it's worth getting something decent for the extra couple of bucks. The speed absolutely blew me away when I first got mine. I'd never go back :D

1247920 2011-12-10 21:34:00 They are nice if you like speed, but the price puts me right off. I also don't really trust their reliability vs hard drives. Agent_24 (57)

What's wrong with this one for a boot drive? I have a SATA 3 Hard Drive (WD 1TB 6 G/bit per sec) but would like something faster.

1247925 2011-12-11 08:39:00 Be careful what you buy in China - in early 2008 I bought a 32GB pen drive not available in NZ at that stage. Made the salesperson put it into a computer and load some files onto it - went fine but did not test taking it out and putting it back in. Found out later that all files corrupted and it was useless even after re-formatting. I think some places get the rejects off the end of production lines and package them nicely for the unsuspecting customers. johnd (85)
