| 1221812 | 2011-08-09 13:41:00 | Then I'm sorry I wasn't clear enough - I was doing my best to be blunt but objective, and I wasn't trying to piss you off, but I was trying to illustrate how much of the forum sees you, and given the available information I'm certainly far from the only one who has formed the opinions I have. We simply don't have anything to go on, the *only* Zara we know is the new user with thirty-something posts on the forum - it's hard to figure out who you are and what your intentions are from so little. Like I said - I genuinely don't understand what your motivations are here, but what got to me is your interfering in what would normally be quite acceptable threads, which generally self-govern reasonably well. The thread that got to me in particular was actually the Irish humour one, rather than today's stuff - today was just the bit that pushed me far enough to feel that it was worth saying something. Your responses today haven't helped much to change that impression. I know you've said this, but actions speak louder than words, and recently your actions are intervening to censor stuff that would normally be left alone. If you look at the history of the forum, and in how Jen & Chill usually manage things, you'll see that there's quite a bit of this kind of humour and generalising of stereotypes that goes on. Most of the time, nobody takes offense, and when somebody goes too far they get called on it, and it's all well and good. You've stated before that you like Monday Laughs, but if you followed the line you're taking to its logical conclusion every ML thread would be locked, and Billy would be banned. You might not be changing the letter of things, but you certainly have been changing the implementation. As a result, it's very hard to tell what crosses your line unless we stick to the most demure, euphamised expression of fact possible. That's not what annoyed me - what annoyed me was the general tone of your response to my PM. Possibly I misunderstood what you meant, but it basically felt like a brush-off, and that you weren't prepared to address the forum's current perception of you, and furthermore didn't care. From an admin, that feels like a big mistake - you might not consider it worth your time, but bear in mind that to do this job well, you need the support of the community you are moderating. For that, you need to win their trust. I certainly hope so. Recent events would seem to indicate that you haven't spent a lot of time observing the forums, or looking through previous threads - had you done so, you would understand why your current approach is causing problems. Indeed :thumbs:. I wish you the best of luck going forward. At the risk of some possible dredging.... I doubt I could have said that better myself. Seems to me like the PC in "PCWorld" may be taking on a whole new meaning around here...?? In either case this forum is (to me) one of the most sensible ones I regularly visit. Occasionally you'll get the odd idiot who signs up, posts something stupid and then insults everyone for not helping them, but there's nothing like the kind of rubbish you get on places such as memebase.com or even hackaday.com (where you'd expect people to be nicer, in my opinion) And most of the other forums I've seen are full of idiots who write in txt spk and uncorrectly grammarised gibberish.... although we usually give those guys more than a fair chance here, in fact. The distinct lack of bad spelling etc is one of the reasons why I like PressF1 - it doesn't give me a headache trying to understand what 99.9% of people write.
