1222623 2011-08-14 03:34:00 Had to go into hospital recently and noted that many of the keep people who I had to trust with my life were immigrants. They did a great job

This proves that there are immigrants & there are immigrants. It's the rubbish you want to keep out. The ones that don't want, or won't assimilate & integrate into our western world society. There are others that come here, or go to other countries that have welfare systems, from countries that don't, so they can hold their hands out, drain the resources that should be there for the rest & do nothing in return.
Enoch had the foresight & has been proved right.

As for MP's, they are there purely to line their own pockets. A 3 year term isn't enough time for them to do anything really constructive, as they're too busy trying to sort out the mess left by the previous lot. They know there's a good chance of being booted out at the next election, so ride that gravytrain for all it's worth.

1222624 2011-08-14 03:53:00 Actually you are right, the Dutch are changing there laws to promote their own culture in their own country. I hate it when other people try and keep their culture when they move to another country. Like if you moved to Saudi would you be allowed to do your own thing No way your hand would be chopped off real quick or you would be jailed or deported yet they all want to keep their own cultures alive and cite freedom of religion to do so when they go overseas

Didn't know about the Dutch thing. I agree with it. All countries should have their own cultures as a first priority & if the immigrants don't like it. They know where the airport is. Bugger off to from whence you came. But alas, we've got gutless lilly livered politicians who are more concerned with the gravy train & votes. They will bend over backwards importing all the rubbish to try & look good in the eyes of the world.
Saudi or any of those countries would be good examples of how to have no tolerance for anything other than their own ways.

1222625 2011-08-14 05:00:00 Perhaps it is time for more western democracies to instigate the procedure of electoral recall, or a recall referendum.
How this works is that if a sufficient percentage of the registered voters in an electorate petition for a recall referendum, then the sitting member is faced with having a recall election.

Countries that have the practice of recall in their constitutions are:
Switzerland, Canada, The United States, Philippines and Venezuela

This democratic procedure would be an excellent way of reminding the rogues in parliament that they are there to represent the people of there electorate, not to rort the system for all they can.

Successful recalls in the United States

* 1911 recall of Hiram Gill, mayor of Seattle, Washington[6]
* 1916 recall of J. W. Robinson, mayor of Boise, Idaho[7]
* 1921 recall of Lynn Frazier, governor of North Dakota
* 1983 recall of Michigan state senators Phil Mastin and David Serotkin due to their support for a state income tax hike. Loss of these two Democratic lawmakers, along with two special elections won by Republicans, flipped the state senate to GOP control, where it has remained ever since (as of January 2010.)[8]
* 1987 recall of Mike Boyle, mayor of Omaha, Nebraska.
* 1987 recall of James Holley, mayor of Portsmouth, Virginia
* 1994 recall of officials in River Vale, New Jersey: Mayor Walter Jones, Councilwoman Patricia Geier, and Councilman Bernard Salmon[9]
* 1995 recall of California State Assemblyman Paul Horcher
* 1995 recall of California State Assembly Speaker Doris Allen
* 1996 recall of Wisconsin State Senator George Petak[10]
* 2002 recall of Woodrow Stanley, mayor of Flint, Michigan.
* 2002 recall of multiple Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, elected county officials including Executive F. Thomas Ament (resigned before election); Board Chair Karen Ordinans; and Board Supervisors Penny Podell, LeAnn Launstein, David Jasenski, Kathy Arciszewski, James McGuigan, and Linda Ryan. All were recalled due to a retirement pension controversy.[11]
* 2003 recall of Gray Davis, governor of California
* 2003 recall of Wisconsin State Senator Gary George[10]
* 2005 recall of James E. West, mayor of Spokane, Washington.
* 2006 recall of Neil Marko, mayor of Roosevelt, New Jersey.
* 2008 recall of Carmen Kontur-Gronquist, mayor of Arlington, Oregon.
* 2010 recall of James Holley, mayor of Portsmouth, Virginia.
* 2011 recall of Carlos Alvarez, mayor of Miami-Dade County, Florida.
* 2011 recall of Wisconsin State Senator Randy Hopper
* 2011 recall of Wisconsin State Senator Dan Kapanke

1222626 2011-08-14 05:37:00 No - we still publicly ridicule idiots who have views like Enoch Powell today so nothing has changed on that front.
.........................

Perhaps you should define who you mean by 'we' ?

I suppose you mean those who are of your opinions ?

You need to have lived through the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s in cities like Birmingham, the Black Country and Leicester as I did, that were subject to massive immigration from the third world from the late 40s early 50s onwards, and experienced first hand the gross problems resulting in those early days to appreciate where Enoch was coming from..(As MP for Wolverhampton).

Many Jamaicans came from that Island In The Sun (www.youtube.com) not having any experience of running water and main drainage sanitation, had totally different standards of living at that time to the indigenous English.

As I posted earlier, my Grandmas* 'yard' and ally way entry to the yard was covered in crap. The coloured kids used to crap on her doorstep, she was frightened to go out and was the last white women there. Mercifully her son by her second marriage was able to get her into a rest home.

The toilet was dreadful.

Before the coloured invasion, the people living around that yard generally used chamber pots in their houses and emptied them as the toilet/wash house became vacant. That was how people lived in those 1850s housing conditions.

The West Indians just crapped around the place.

The whole area (Ladywood) was finally demolished in the early 1970s.

*She wasn't my actual grandma but my mother's aunt and first mother in law.

Enoch Powells speeches just scratched the surface of what was happening. Only people living in those areas knew the conditions.

Let me quote Enoch:
"There is a sense of hopelessness and helplessness which comes over persons who are trapped or imprisoned, when all their efforts to attract attention and assistance bring no response. This is the kind of feeling which you in Walsall and we in Wolverhampton are experiencing in the face of the continued flow of immigration into our towns. We are of course in a minority – make no mistake about that. Out of over 600 parliamentary constituencies perhaps less than 60 are affected in any way like ourselves. The rest know little or nothing and, we might sometimes be tempted to feel, care little or nothing. Only this week a colleague of mine in the House of Commons was dumbfounded when I told him of a constituent whose little daughter was now the only white child in her class at school. He looked at me as if I were a Member of Parliament for central Africa, who had suddenly dropped from the sky into Westminster. So far as most people in the British Isles are concerned, you and I might as well be living in central Africa for all they know about our circumstances."

www.enochpowell.net (speech 1968)

Whilst there was "racism" in housing, ie landlords turning away coloured people, much of this was in fact originally caused by the behaviour and living standards of the new immigrants themselves, Jamaicans in particular at that time.

The Indians had a different approach. A wealthy Indian would buy a house for sale, in say Mosely B'ham, and then let it out to around 12 to 24 single young Indians. No shortage of jobs in the 60s.
Half would work day shift and half night shift and share the same rooms.

One by one the neighbouring locals would sell up and move on, with said wealthy Indian landlords buying their houses, until the whole street and then the whole neighbourhood became little India.

I could go on chapter and verse about the events and conditions in those early days, and how resentments were created that the do-gooders unaffected by them then called racism, but it probably wouldn't change your views.

Incidently Enoch Powell had one of the finest brains of all British MPs of the time. Most certainly he never 'lost' a TV debate, but by brilliant logic always made his opponents look foolish and stupid, whether they came from the left, or from his own party.

1222628 2011-08-14 10:16:00 Enoch Powell MBE,
Classical Scholar ( Double First Class Honours from Cambridge), Author of a total of 39 books, Linguist mastering 12 Languages, Professor at the age of 25, Miklitary Officer rising to the rank of Brigadier, and a conservative MP, from 1950 - 1974, holding 2 cabinet minister appointments.

Probably one of the most brilliant minds ever to serve as an MP in Westminster.
A list of achievements not to be laughed off, and certainly one of the few Tory MPs to stand up for ordinary British people having their lives adversely affected by immigration.

1222629 2011-08-14 10:29:00 Enoch Powell also got elected with fairly comfortable margins in an electorate that had many migrants, who were among his stronger supporters.
Very irksome for the do-gooders.

Indeed he was brilliant !

There was a rather stupid letter in yesterdays DomPost from one Duncan McKee, who like 12v also was obviously not around at the time.

He claimed Enoch Powell was howled down by the British public. What crap and nonsense !

Enoch Powell was lauded and acclaimed by the majority of the British public as the only politician to stand up and say what was happening, as you said. He was also cheered and acclaimed by Labour voting London Dockers who marched in his support.
Many coloured immigrants also supported him because they did not want their pitch queered by yet more and more immigrants coming in.

It was a very small minority who had never seen a coloured face or the problems existing in the immigration areas, including the press who usually got it all wrong, who reviled him.

Again quoting Enoch:
"In an earlier speech in February I had mentioned a class in a school in my constituency where there was only one white child. I mentioned it as a fact calculated to bring home to people the size and concentration of the immigrant population. Immediately, I was denounced as lying or retailing hearsay; and though the truth of what I said was confirmed in open council a few days later by the Chairman of the Education Committee, the national press refrained from reporting it and Roy Jenkins, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in a speech at Swansea three months later, who had only to lift the telephone on his desk to ascertain the truth, preferred to brand me as a liar by stating that no such school had ever been discovered. However Nemesis had not long to wait; and in September the very newspapers which had attacked me had the ignominy of having to report the existence not only in Wolverhampton but in Birmingham of such classes, as well as the 90 per cent immigrant school in my own constituency. So quickly does the incredible turn into what everybody knew all the time."

I imagine you were a big fan of Oswald Mosley as well.

1222632 2011-08-14 12:33:00 I imagine you were a big fan of Oswald Mosley as well.

A remark made from prejudiced thinking rather than knowledge.

To compare the leader of the British Nazi party, with Enoch Powell. a brilliant scholar, and one of the brightest men ever to grace the House of Commons, is equivalent to shooting the messenger, because you don't like the message, even though the truth of the message is patently obvious to any who care to observe.

The attacks on Enoch Powell by the establishment, are akin to modern day political correctness, where it is the practise to demonise those of opposing views, rather than to enter into a debate you think you will lose.

I don't know whether Twelve Volts has ever visited the UK, let alone lived there, but mass 3rd world immigration is destroying the fabric of British society, it is being drastically and irretrievably changed for the worse, in spite of the majority of ordinary British people being opposed to the flawed policies that have permitted this to occur.

The City of Leicester ( population 340,000- about the size of Christchurch) already has the situation where white English people are a minority, Birmingham, and Bradford are very close to being in the same situation, and it is reckoned if all 3rd world immigration was to stop immediately - which isn't likely to happen, that within 50 years white English people will be a minority in their own country.

This has happened, not with the ordinary British person's consent, but in spite of their opposition to it.

Living in the relative harmonious society that is New Zealand, it is very easy to claim a moral high ground, but don't be too complaisant, that could easily change. In Australia, with Muslims making up only 2% of the population, but living in self created separate ghettos in West Sydney, and obdurately refusing to integrate into the Australian way of life, and pushing for the establishment of Sharia law, already Australians, who are fairly laid back, are hearing warning bells. the ordinary people who live close to the predominantly Muslim areas are already becoming concerned.

Live and let live is a great principle, but it is a two way street and when one party claims all the rights to live as it pleases and do as it pleases, but refuses to accept the other party's rights to hold opposing views, and refuses ti integrate into the society that they moved into, then there is a potential to a build up dangerous tensions in the community.

Wise men learn by their mistakes, even wiser men learn by other peoples mistakes.
