1222593 2011-08-12 10:08:00 Agreed, Paul. The mob mentality can readily influence the usually placid, conservative, law abiding citizens in all of us.

Mob rule in this case has empowered the feeble minded, given them courage they would not otherwise have. Jen is partly right: "the London riots were more associated with a poorer socio-economic population, not a specific race." For lower socio-economic demographics, read feeble minded. Unfortunately the race aspect creeps in, mainly because non-Aryan groups tend to fall into the lower socio-economic group.

The power of mob rule should not be underestimated. Less than 100 years ago, it was acceptable for cannibalism by Maori. But let's not be racist, we're talking human behavior. Let's not forget that the parents of the baby boomers generation were (not individually) responsible for mass genocide, killings, all in the name of the state. And were lauded and held up in esteem.

Sorry folks, that means still living grandparents, all over the world, in many countries.

The problem with the London riots runs a lot deeper than appears on the surface.

1222594 2011-08-12 10:44:00 I was interested in what sparked all these incidents. I came across this article. (en.wikipedia.org)

On 4 August 2011 Mark Duggan, a 29-year-old man, was shot and killed by armed police officers during an attempt to arrest him as part of a police operation in Tottenham, London, England. His shooting led indirectly to riots in Tottenham, which were followed on successive days by the 2011 England riots.

At about 17:30 BST on 6 August 2011, Duggan's relatives and local residents marched from Broadwater Farm to Tottenham Police Station. The demonstrators wanted information from police about the circumstances of Duggan's death. Eventually, a chief inspector spoke with the demonstrators, who, however, demanded to see a higher-ranking officer. About 20:20 BST, some members of the waiting crowd attacked two nearby police cars, setting them on fire. According to Met Commander Adrian Hanstock, the violence was started by 'certain elements, who were not involved with the vigil

There are far too many inter-related factors to come up with an easy answer.

Britain has had major problems in many of its cities for a number of years, and while many of the woes can be laid to blame on excessive immigration by racial and cultural groups who have not assimilated into British Society, by no means all of them.

In London, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool to name a few cities, unemployment is endemic in the poorer usually afro-carribean areas, and has become inter-generational with often 2 generations never holding long term permanent employment, and many parts of North London have become ghettoised, especially around the Tottenham, Wood Green areas, and similarly around Brixton. 30 years ago there were over 700 serious muggings per year reported round Brixton underground station. I can recall going into a crowded bar in Finsbury Park in North London to ask directions and doubling the white population in the bar - the other white being the licensee.

Tower Hamlets is a strong Muslim enclave, and it is not clever for a infidel to wander round there unaccompanied, especially after dark, and many of the major cities in the midlands have similar non-assimulating population problems. White British are in a minority in the city of Leicester, and within less than 10 years this will also be the case for the cities of Bradford, Birmingham, Burnley and many others.

Serious unemployment, a ethic ghettoisation of the poorer areas in inner cities, along with an inability to contain more third world immigration is only adding to the problem. In the last 5 years over 1.75 million third world immigrants have settled in Britain, mainly on social welfare, and the problem has been allowed to go along virtually unchecked, I for one a very glad that I have not been resident in the UK. for some 30 years.

Enock Powells prophetic words of the sixties seem to be coming back to haunt the establishment that publicly ridiculed him and tried to discredit him in the 60s over his warning on uncontrolled immigration into Britain.

It would be interesting to hear what some of those that were ridiculing him had to say now.

1222597 2011-08-12 15:46:00 I reckon the Maori in NZ (south Auckland probably) would be more than capable of a similar thing if provoked.

I wouldnt go that far. I think if it was to happen here, it would be by those who dont/cant fit into New Zealand Society. While some Maori may feel they dont fit into NZ Society, I think it would be more likely started by immagrants to NZ who have little interest of fitting into our society. Some of those Middle Eastern/third world nations for example have no respect for themselves, each other or their own country. They happily blow themselves, their own country men and women up and destroy their country.
Are the ones entering NZ and settling here really any different?
When enough of these people get established here and start forming their own communities and gangs I think we are in for the same as England. And its only a matter of time.

I think KenESmith comments are bang on, and boy, that is really scarry. NZ needs to learn from all this and build its population model with caution.

Sorry, but no more third world refugees would be a brave start, there is another 195 countries in the world, let them choose another in my opinion.

My :2cents: worth.

My wishes go out to all the good folk in England who are the victims out of the riots. I hope they catch as many of these thugs(to much Police 10/7) as they can and make them pay heavily for what they have done. And for the ones not born in the UK, strip them of all their belongings and put them on the first boat back to where they came from, they dont deserve to live there.

1222599 2011-08-12 23:22:00 Here are some comments from today's Daily Telegraph that are right on the button:

There is no merit in leaving one human being never mind thousands generation after generation as well as new immigrants to the mindless life of no responsibility, no work ethic, no social skills, no challenges in life other than dodging the dodgy characters who run the estates and for males the reality of being emotionally a little boy in a man's body.

They just breed the next generation and the age of the so called fathers or inseminators for that is what most of them are gets younger and younger - we'll soon be in single digit age.

This is complete madness and it has to end or we're all finished.

Every citizen absolutely must put something into society and not act through an agent whether that be a social worker, gang leader, so called 'community leader' - we have democratically elected MPs for that role - everyone must participate.

We have schools; we have further and higher education. We have a welfare system so extensive that it is bankrupting the country. We have an overabundance of state employees to do jobs that in effect socially castrate benefit recipients by robbing them of personal responsibility and the normal growing up emotional challenges, so let's just start again - but this time let us be honest and not put political correctness in the way of the future of Britain and her people.

1222601 2011-08-12 23:48:00 By the time dear old Enoch was warning of the dangers of uncontrolled immigration from the third world, and the problems existing in areas such as Wolverhampton, for which he was reviled, it was already far too late.

Even as early as 1951, vigilante groups were being formed in Smethwick and Oldbury in the Black Country, so as to escort girls home from weekend dances and the pictures.
This was to protect them from being accosted by young single Jamaicans who had come over in droves from around 1947/8 onwards.

As their families began to come over, so the resentment began, caused over housing. Housing was a bigger cause of the problems than race itself, and I'd say actually led to racism.

Much of the slum housing in English cities dated from Victorian times, and had been due for replacement in the 20s and 30s. The depression and then the war delayed this.

Those people living in these conditions..one up one down, one cold water tap, outside yard with one toilet to serve 5 households...made the best of a bad job. Like my grandma in Ladywood.

The influx of Jamaicans cramming into substandard housing and with their different standards, like crapping in the back yards, soon made that housing unliveable in.

They were then given better housing ahead of the the indigenous Brits, who had all this time been making the best of their living conditions and been waiting for better housing as had been promised by successive governments from before the war.

In my opinion this was what caused the initial antagonism towards the uncontrolled immigration back in the fifties and onwards.

1222602 2011-08-13 01:01:00 The Malaise that is Britain:

An excellent Article by Peter Oborn, the Daily Telegraph's chief political commentator.

Politicians of all parties should note:

blogs.telegraph.co.uk

and
How to recover Britain’s streets for civilisation

This article gives a reasonable insight into what is wrong with Britain's policing
during the riots.
70 seventies, there were storm clouds gathering that Enock Powell warned about, and he was shouted down, tragically the last weeks have gone a long way to vindicating him.

Britain's society is badly broken, the blame game is on, but there appears little or no political will to repair it, and that is assuming a repair is possible.

Perhaps the people of New Zealand and Australia will be smart enough to learn from Britain's horrible example - I sincerely hope so.
