1222256 2011-08-10 08:10:00 Not sure now but early on in Whakapapa and Turangi, when 2D roams under VF, it couldn't get a signal .

If I recalled last year my 2D did work ok . Apart from that I haven't really noticed any difference . Occasionally I have used VF or 2D via the cellphone on the laptop - 3G Internet they both were about the same . I didn't do any big downloads to notice it . . .

But if you use Internet around the country like on travel or what not . . . 2D can be $$ outside the main cities cos they don't have their own towers . So you get a diff price plan .

Just stay in the main cities :p

I spent $10 on their 100MB pack to start off with, I quickly moved to the $20 1GB pack when I used that 100MB in less than a week :p

1222259 2011-08-10 09:12:00 2 degrees cost me about half what Vodafone did. Both prepaid. Coverage is slightly better than Vfone, better than XT (I have a work XT phone). Port your old number to 2 degrees and you don't lose calls.

I find that very hard to believe - where are you based? And what are the two phones you are comparing?

1222260 2011-08-10 09:26:00 Used 2Degrees to rip off Telecom when they were doing the TextMeRace. Won two phones and ended up liking 2D so much that as soon as the race finished I switched over to them.

Kept my 027 prefix but yeah, 2D is a hell of a lot better imo

Also RE: when you are out of town and are on the 2D/Voda network, are you sure you are charged more? I have yet to notice any additional costs when using the mixed network out of town.

1222261 2011-08-10 09:41:00 You will not see any different charges for being on the Vodafone network.
2 Degrees have a roaming deal with them where you still pay the exact same rates.

Not according to their mobile broadband packages.

1222263 2011-08-10 10:19:00 oh sorry apart from that, you have to be on the 2 Degrees network and not Vodafone for data usage.
Totally forgot about that, I have not used data on my phone for a while.

1222264 2011-08-10 10:34:00 Don't change over till May or June next year when all the major telcos will have special deals going to entice you to there network. I have an 027 phone and won't be changing till then.
:)

1222265 2011-08-10 10:36:00 All depends where you are. In and around Mot we have no 2D tower, so it's all vodafone, and the reception is hopeless. Got a few mates who are on 2D (vodafone) and are often having trouble with reception, calls dropping etc. XT is excellent. wratterus (105)
