1221761	2011-08-08 10:35:00	OK, this coming from the guy who jumped up and down first, and then asked "what thread"? :rolleyes: I would give Joe the benefit of the doubt without reading the thread, i will take my opinion of him as weight enough. That said, i have been pointed at the thread, and I see my stance is justified. Its only been made worse by the pathetic rubbish being then applied to that Irish joke, I did wonder at the time where the crap was coming from. Has anyone noticed that all humor has a generic victim?, are they now the sacred cow? If Joe is willing to give us an insight into how he sees his birth country then we should appreciate it, Its a forum, its open to debate or to be ignored. But no, lets take the irish out of jokes, and tell some silly yank his commentaries on his country have to be modified to suit some person in an office in Jafaland holding championing some touchy feely PC crapola. I know whose wisdom and insight I value out of the two.(even if at times his wisdom and insight deserves a face palm)	Metla (12)

1221763	2011-08-08 10:58:00	I'd noticed Surfer Joe had been absent. I hadn't known why. SJ is bloody good value in this forum. Quite a character, and with guite some history (and consequently some interesting insight on life, people, society). He's getting on somewhat and has his health issues. We'll lose him through mortality eventually, and that will be too soon. Let's not lose him through other means before then.	Paul.Cov (425)

Essentially he was admitting that welfare was making his (some of his) people idle, unmotivated, unhealthy hedonists. A less PC take on that would be that they were eating, drinking, drugging themselves to death on welfare money. SJ's comments run kinda parallel to what this Aussie said about his own folks. One book I read by a guy who used to teach in Africa and thirty years later travelled from one end to the other, said that thirty years of charity in Africa had done absolutely nothing for them. He also said some of the worst people he met were the aid people. They would drive around in their flash Toyota's or Landrovers and wouldn't stop for anyone.	mikebartnz (21)
