1468259	2020-04-18 05:51:00	OPINION: I'm going out on a limb by disagreeing with other Māori academics and Māori organisations about the $56.5 million allocated by the government for a "special Māori response action plan" for Covid-19. According to Stuff, $30 million has been targeted directly to Māori health services and a further $15 million to Whānau Ora commissioning agencies to support vulnerable whanau. The remainder of funding seems to be targeted towards Māori businesses. Don't get me wrong – Māori health services and the Whānau Ora commissioning agencies do an amazing job providing services to Māori across the country who feature at the wrong end of the health and social issues spectrum. I just don't see the rationale to put $56.5 million towards a special Māori response action plan for Covid-19. HERE (www.stuff.co.nz)	B.M. (505)

1468263	2020-04-19 02:10:00	I'll defend it then. Why he says? Because maori in some areas have worse health, less access to doctors, hospitals etc and a shorter lifespan. Northland for instance. I think it's whiny bollocks from a group that have no incentive or intention to ever improve their lot because it's financially beneficial not to, but that debate will continue long after we're gone.	allblack (6574)

1468266	2020-04-19 05:21:00	I think it's whiny bollocks Of course you would. It's a group you know nothing about personally. There are lot's of "whiny groups" in NZ. People in wheelchairs who expect building owners to have ramps and lifts for them. People with terminal illnesses wanting expensive trial drugs or overseas available drugs to prolong their lives by a minor amount of time. People overseas that want the govt to pay for flights home for them cause they were on holiday at the time. Businesses wanting a bailout cause they didn't ensure they had sufficient cash flow to tide them over in case of the unexpected. Farmers wanting bailouts cause the weather or seasons affected their crops and/or animals. And so on. Sheesh, what is the world thinking, helping out those that need a bit of extra help. Should just step on them and grind them into the dust for being such shits.	piroska (17583)
